This is the first character study I did for[livejournal.com profile] btvsats_20 (found out that when I joined the first time I didn't join me up at ALL. Usually communities say I've joined but doesn't let me see the postings this time after the initial post I was gone.) Check it out. The question prompt was How do people see you (and how do you see yourself). I'm peeking through Connor's eyes for this.

And the question is this since I know I have instructors on my flist, have any of you have High School experience? Basically I have  a dead body being found by one of the students. I know she'd be taken to the office until the police question her and the school would be locked down until the police do their business. But what would a teacher do with the class during the lock down? Would they transport them to one big room (I'm doubting this, since people could slip away). How would they try to keep everyone calm? It's been 20 years since I've been in a HS and the only murder attempt there came the year after I graduated. Thanks

ETA - I have another question. Anyone know a very prestigious award for poetry that would be international. Right now I have one of the teachers at the university having been a swing and a miss at the nobel lit prize but that might be TOO much. But I'd like it to be something big enough that it would ease his way into any teaching position he might want.

I could see all the students being asked to go to the school auditorium. With cops, if available, to guard the main entrances of the school. But yeah, if all the students are suspects, it's a logistical nightmare keeping them all on-campus, especially the guilty parties, but you have to think if a student did it, they wouldn't remain on campus anyway. So maybe some town cops patrol the area around the school in some mileage perimeter keeping an eye out for truant students.

thanks for the input. It's a city school but in Madison where the crime rate is relatively low. It's not even known if it's a murder. But i know nowadays they'd try to lock down the school

yes thank you Kat. That is IMMENSELY helpful. In a low level lockdown, do the teachers attempt to teach or does everyone just sit quietly. God help you if you have to pee I suppose

that's a big help. So at class change, I'm imagining this doesn't happen and if you're in english you get stuck there until the lock down is over. We'd probably be in a mid level lock down. There's a dead body from no discernable causes

thanks. This is immensely helpful as I've said before but I really mean it. I need it for chapter one of my novel.

will do. It's been a tad long since I've been in high school and things have changed. Betting the pecking order stuff hasn't changed since the dawn of time so I'm good on that.
