And ohhh, an interesting set of main characters you've got there! :) Re the healing magic - maybe the healing magic works just fine, but it needs to be done within a certain time frame or the amputation had to happen because an unknown poison was spreading from below the knee?
Sad to hear that one of them has to die though. Are you entirely sure they have to die for good? Maybe they'd prefer to become an undead or a ghost?
