can anyone tell me HOW to respond to the screened comments without unscreening them? I don't see an option for that! I replied to one and thought I say 'comment is now unscreened' then replied to another and yep, that is the case (don't worry ladies, I went back and deleted your comments off so no one would get those addresses. Sorry!! Damn) What in the heck am I doing wrong? I mean what's the point of screening if it doesn't stay that way?

It unscreens them when you reply, so I just go back and screen them both again quickly.

*shrugs*

Hit the eyeball button. When it's got a line through it, it means "hit this to screen". When it is an eye without a line through it, it means "this is now screened". So just go back and rescreen when it auto-unscreens.

Annoying, but there it is.

That's for freezing threads. You hit that when you want to prevent people from responding to a comment. It works heirarchically, so that by freezing a coment, you also freeze every comment that responds to it and the ones that respond to them--the whole sub-thread attached to that comment.

Although you have to refresh the screen to see all those sub-comments have been frozen.

It's about the only way available to keep your post--comments from collapsing as well.

Yes, at 50 comments they all turn into links. It makes them hard to read, so some people freeze the threads.

yeah I know in the RPG's when we get to that we just make a new post for that reason

We do that in my Season 4 AtS discussion group, too, but sometimes people are answering their comments through email and don't realize the discussion has moved to a new post, and to keep the old post from collapsing, the LJ owner freezes the threads.
