I was setting the table and the bejeweled Christmas napkin rings cut my finger open. Side eyeing them so hard.

Today I didn't get nearly what I wanted to do done. I did post up 2 fandomtrees stories and thought about trying this open call that didn't get enough stories. My problem is I only have TWO stories with couples and neither are 21st century. Do I have time to do 5K + in the next few weeks...Hmmm Maybe one of you has something

Day 17. Try a new recipe I went with this recipe from the Abruzzo region since that's where my family is from Ragù di agnello It came out very well.


Day 17 tea- Another literary tea, my favorite, Edgar Allan Poe which is lapsang Sou Chong, pue er and beetroot, I do love it.


As for fannish 50 I was thinking about what happens when your fandom becomes problematic such as anything by Neil Gaiman right now or Harry Potter. I was honestly debating should I watch the wizard baking challenge since I want no money flowing to that woman. The other day I saw someone on Bluesky saying if you mention HP they're blocking you because you obviously hate transpeople and are working against them if you stay with your comfort fandom.

I don't think it's as easy as that (or that's exactly fair) on the other hand I'm not out there buying their stuff either. There is no easy answers for that but it's been stuck in my head since I saw that post.

While I have the usual plethora of Harry Potter swag, since JKR came out as a fool, I have not spent any money that might flow in her direction. It hasn't been deliberate but I have not watched the Baking show and now that you say it adds to her coffers, I am unlikely to... unless I can find a pirated copy of the show... LOL

However, I still write Harry Potter fic, mostly to spite her. I have taken her toys away from her and use them as my own. She gains no money from what I do and has no control over what I write... hopefully, she is unhappy with my version of her characters, since she cannot do anything about it.

I am assuming she got some money for the the baking show. Most of the cast has been on it (besides the main three) and I don't blame them. They need to make a living and it's not their fault she's awful.

I've never really been involved in the HP fandom. I do share some of my friends' stories and that's about as far as it goes. I do feel it a bit unfair to paint all the fans with the same brush as her but I can see there are those that do (but is there a fandom out there that isn't problematic in some way)

Specifically heterosexual, monogamous, committed marriages–and the fact that I have to specify that is a big part of why I feel the need to do this project.

I think we know now...honestly I was put off a bit by the royalties only. In most anthologies it means you're seeing a buck twenty.

Honestly, if they block you for this, you're probably better off. It's so holier than thou. I have to wonder how many people are making these comments and then turning around and consuming media with Scientologist actors or writers. Scientology has done A LOT of harm: child labor, skirting minimum wage laws, intimidation of opponents, mental illness denial, and opposing same sex marriage. And its celebrity members are both funding that harm and increasing the organization's visibility.


Separating art from artist this is a YMMV thing. For instance, I don't care to read The Mists of Avalon after learning what kind of person MZB was, but it was such a formative book for my fellow nerds that I won't deny them what's meaningful for them.

Dana will hiss at the mention of HP or JK Rowling, but our fanfic server has a ton of trans/NB people in the HP fandom. Quite a few of them will write fics with trans characters. I'm here for it :)

I know, right? Joel Perez who plays Valentino in Hazbin Hotel (a sexually/physically abusive villain) has been beset by fans coming for him because they can't separate reality from fantasy apparently (I met him a couple weekends ago, he seems nice) he called them performative (in this case protesting sexual abuse) and I think that's the right of it. They make noise online to look good but do we see them doing anything to help (and attacking an actor for playing a fictional villain helps no one)

Yeah I ditched all my old MZB books after learning about her but to be honest I read her stuff when I was young but I didn't bond with her much anyhow.

And that's for verifying something I figured had to be true that there are trans/NB fans for HP and comments like that have to hurt them even more.
