until dinner. Been queasy ever since. Ah well, annoying but nothing big. The knee did better this time with that injection so that's good.

2025 = the year of the local con. One local con wants me to represent as a local author and another just asked me to be an author/judge for their writing contest. I hope I get to do both.

A couple of years ago I backed a Good Omens graphic novel on kickstarter. It hit a reef when the artist developed breast cancer and needed a year to take off for treatment (Understandable) but now we have all the allegations against Gaiman. This is what the kickstarter sent today Finally, we had locked refunds of the Good Omens graphic novel in mid-November due to where we were in the production process, however will no longer maintain this freeze in light of new articles and allegations. While we cannot speak further on the subject at present, we have chosen to reopen a short refund window for those who would no longer like to support the graphic novel, until Friday 7th February 2025. Please contact us via email or Kickstarter message.

It has also been agreed that Neil Gaiman will not receive any proceeds from the graphic novel Kickstarter. Given the project management, production and all communication has always been under the jurisdiction of the Estate on behalf of Good Omens at large, this will not fundamentally change the project itself, however we can confirm the Kickstarter and PledgeManager will now fully be an entity run by, and financially connected to, the Terry Pratchett Estate only.

A number of tiers also come with author merchandise and books; we have been working on a system in the back end to remove or swap out particular rewards from tiers, should you wish to continue with the project, but not receive these specific items. In this instance, please contact us via Kickstarter or the email listed on the project FAQ and we will endeavour to alter your orders, to swap items in of an equivalent value, where we are able.

Given the point in the production process, we cannot extend refunds beyond this new deadline, but will honour requests in this window - the only exceptions will be tiers where rewards have already been actioned, such as cameos, and custom or rare items on higher level tiers. In the instance of cameos, should backers wish to have their name removed from the postcard (Archangel) or not receive their cameo print (God), we are able to alter this, but not the cameo itself.

If you do get in touch, we aim to get back within a few days; if you have not heard back within a week, please chase up your query.

Good Omens in all its forms is very special to us, and we know that for many fans the landscape has shifted. We appreciate the sensitivity of this issue, and will be working through all queries in the coming weeks.

The Terry Pratchett Estate (Good Omens HQ)

Basically it's from Terry Pratchett's estate and there should be no money going to Gaiman end of story. It's like do I do the refund? If the artist hadn't had cancer, I'd have this book already. Would I throw it off my shelf? Also I'm TIRED of others suffering for the bad actions of one person (the actors for Harry Potter, ALL the actors for Dead Boy Detective (now canceled), Good Omens (cut back to a few hours to wrap it up) and I'm assuming Sandman will not be renewed once S2 airs.

I'm not about to give up my entire Sandman collection. My love for it hasn't changed (though it will be in the back of my head what the creator did much like it is when I rewatch the Harry Potter movies). I'll probably let this ride and just get the book. I didn't order any of the add ons. I feel bad for the creators here affected by Gaiman's actions, that Terry Pratchett's estate might suffer if everyone asks for refunds. Sigh.


In community recs I got this from ysabetwordsmith. bedes has made a list of indie web site Several on my Flist were here in the beginning of online fandom. We remember the indie web sites especially all over geocity and I had one with evil_little_dog for Buffy stories. While there is a lot of good to be said about big fandom sites like FFN, AO3 and Squidge but there is also something special (and for me nostalgic) about indie sites. Triste que muitos sites legais tenham sumido com a queda do geocities e eu só tenha os conhecido por cópias do wayback machine ou espelhos de programas como reocities e afins. Triste também que as ações horríveis daquele dito homem possam atrapalhar o espolio de Pratchett e possivelmente todas as obras de fãs incluindo as de caridade, além dos atores e outras pessoas envolvidas nas adaptações de suas obras. Thanks, yeah. I'm older so I was there for a lot of this. The wayback machine helped me recover a lot of my lost stories (back in the early 00s I didn't have all the back up methods I have now and lot a lot of them)

Ugh, yeah it's not just the problematic creator who suffers, it's everyone around them too and it's sad.

Hmm google translated that as 'fruit salt' for the nausea and I'm not sure what that is. I'll go looking. Thank you. I tend to use ginger and peppermint both of which do help.

eta - okay fruit salt was not what I expected but yes it would work, it's a base that will settle high acid in the stomach. In America it's mostly known by its name brand Alka Seltzer

Quando não temos nada disso a mão fazemos um preparado de bicarbonato de sódio e água que ingerimos alta aliviar as tensões estomacais. Se não fosse a Wayback Machine acho que metade da internet estaria realmente morta. Eu adoro entrar nela e descobrir que algo meu foi arquivado (não por mim às vezes), ou achar algo que gostava e sumiu arquivado. É mágico e maravilhoso.

Naveguei em muitos arquivos atualmente inacessíveis, que só existem cópias lá. Fico só triste pelos sites que foram removidos do arquivo após pedido dos novos donos daquele determinado domínio 😞

The Wayback machine really is wonderful. I haven't gone looking in some time though if I'm honest.

It is sad so much was lost. I would have loved to have known about some of the Buffy sites closing before they did so I could have rescued my own stuff.

Oh yes I remember that. At least fanfiction.net gave us warning they were taking down the erotic stuff so I put them in other places that did close without warning so yeah the Wayback got it back for me I'm grateful

I actually didn't blame them because they were being threatened with jail time for allowing erotica into countries that didn't allow it etc. I've been the recipient of a cease and desist letter from a lawyer in regards to fanfic (Anne McCaffrey decided she would no longer allow Pern fanfic) and you better believe I stopped. I wasn't getting fined or jailed over fanfic

That I don't know about the rape (the author of outlander is female). There was a fantasy male fantasy author, Stephen R. Donaldson of the Thomas Covenant series where Thomas (the hero) more or less rapes someone.

Anne was a bit bonkers. Back in the 90s before she really went off the rails I had been invited to her Halloween party at her home in New Orleans (something she was doing for fans back then) I never could go (and wasn't sure I trusted was real at first)

Claudia was an interesting character and I did really like that book but man for me they went downhill fast.

yeah it's a huge trigger for a lot of us. The character I wrote most in my current fandom (points to the icon) is in a sexually abusive relationship and it's hard to write him without being exploitive.

I obviously missed something about Dead Boy Detectives - loved that series and had no idea there was any scandal associated with it!

Dead Boy Detectives is from the Sandman universe so in spite of Netflix saying it didn't have a fan based (which if I look on social media seems to be false, it DID) I have a feeling that since Gaiman owns the characters Netflix cut it lose (then again they're also becoming the next Fox tv which cancels every damn thing)

I feel ya. I think I'm going to just get it. It's not the Prachett's estate nor the artist's fault about all this (and she might catch a lot of blow back actually as she had done art for Gaiman on many projects for years)
