slip sliding away

my parents' home is atop a very large hill. We got an ice storm today. I think I'm now effectively trapped inside this house with them until the ice melts or I could try sliding down the hill. Kill me.

We of course didn't go to the theatre today but since the weather was SO inclement, they actually exchanged our tickets for next week.

We're also supposed to go to the strip district for the annual get food for the holidays trip. Goodbye English, hello Italian. I have a list that's gonna cost me a small fortune btu I'm not leaving there with proscuitto and my weight in anchovies :-P


Put the tree up today. The very first bulb I hung mom said. "NOT THERE!" Wanna watch me kill her?

i can't really see them here. The ancient phone lines reduce everything to a blurry mess. I cna't even read my own icons. Lucky I know what they say. POUT. I really want to see her new icons too.

Her icons should still be there when your ancient dial-up holidays are over. Good god, I will be using my mother's own pokey modem in less than a week. It's not even worth being on-line it takes so long for each page to load.

same here. Actually it's not much slower than at home but something HAS to be wrong with the phone lines. Dad has a graphic centered system since he's an engineer. I can't even pick out faces in my banner. But yes, when I get back to work I'll go drool over the icons.

Hang in there! Just think -- you could be getting chewed out by unhappy students who earned their Fs and blame you for it instead. :P Doesn't that sound fun?

luckily no one blamed me (yet) for their failing grades though honestly in my upper level class I only had ONE failure out of 24 students. go me

In the senior class, I had one F who never came to class, wrote no papers, etc. The other F was someone who took the midterm and final, came to class a total of 6 times over the semester, and wrote neither paper. *is puzzled* I can't figure out why he took the final when there was zero chance for him to pass the class. If he gripes, I'll skewer him. Those two were it from the 30 in Ren/Ref, though. The Western Civ sections, however, were an absolute bloodbath. It was like Agincourt, with my class as the French!

SNORT. great reference. One of my felllow prof's genetics class was like that, people showing up for the final having done none of the homework and missing half the tests. It's like WTF?

I did have several F's from people who never showed up since day one (and for baffling reeasons never withdrew) and from those who again just stopped coming and never withdrew

That's the only name I've ever heard it called. It's lemon peel soaked in grain alcohol and then cooked with sugar and the peel's taken out. You freeze the booze and drink shots of it after meals. In theory, at least.
