not off to a great start

It doesn't really involve me but living where I do and having ties to the community like we do, we couldn't help being affected by the tragedy in WV with the trapped miners. This is the thing everyone in this area knows can happen, has happened before and will happen again. At this point there's probably not much hope for the 12 remaining trapped miners (the 13th was found dead).
Both grandfathers worked in coal mines, hell I've done coal work. A couple uncles died in mines. My sympathy goes out to the families of those miners
ETA - They found the other 12 alive. I wasn't expecting that so hoorah!
