not off to a great start

This new year that is. It doesn't really involve me but living where I do and having ties to the community like we do, we couldn't help being affected by the tragedy in WV with the trapped miners. This is the thing everyone in this area knows can happen, has happened before and will happen again. At this point there's probably not much hope for the 12 remaining trapped miners (the 13th was found dead).

Both grandfathers worked in coal mines, hell I've done coal work. A couple uncles died in mines. My sympathy goes out to the families of those miners


ETA - They found the other 12 alive. I wasn't expecting that so hoorah!

It's such a horrible tragedy. I can't imagine sending my husband, son, father, brother off to do that every day. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with the family members.

Just heard the revised version on the news this morning. According to Shawn someone overheard them saying there were survivors & got everyone's hopes up. I hope they find whoever the jerk was to get those poor people's hopes up.

What a horrible tragedy. What a way to start 2006. My heart is breaking for those families.
