color_i_fic challenge you'd think I'd be all out of red but no...here's a series of somewhat interconnected drabbles all from Angel's point of view as he sees the people around him.
Red, the color of blood, the color of her lips as they sealed over his neck. He never thought he’d die on his knees in some dirty alley. He could never have dreamed that his killer would be a wisp of a woman and that she’d open a world of darkness to him.
Red, the color of the gowns she’d wear whenever his attention would wander, bringing it back to her. There was nothing he didn’t love about her, the way she tasted, the way she killed, the way she moved. Only something was missing with Darla, some nuance.
Red, the color of blood, the color of the little dress that barely covered her as her body writhed on the dance floor. She knew he was there, watching from the shadows. She knew he wouldn’t join her on the dance floor but the show she made of her body was for him.
He always wondered how she could fight in such a skimpy frock. Was the sight of her panties flashing in a spin kick be the last thing many vampires would ever see? Maybe he should talk her into pants but he liked looking at Buffy’s legs.
Red, the color of blood, the color oozed from the heart of a shopkeeper as he gave it to Drusilla. It was worth the effort, not only seeing the light in her eyes spark but the hatred on Spike’s pale drawn face. It always thrilled him if he could please Dru and rub it in Spike’s face at the same time. He had missed this. Too bad it was just so damn easy. He liked it better if he had to work for his reward. Red was a color that suited Dru. He told her so, peeling the dress away.
Red, the color of blood, the color of his son’s shirt that nearly matched the blood pooling around his head. Angel had to fight to resist tasting that rich offering as he cradled his son’s cooling body to him. Where had the boy found a shirt this color? Ever since he had come to Earth he had been married to earth-tones. Why had he picked his day to die as the day to burst forth in color, as if he had chosen to bloom brilliantly and fade away like a butterfly. Now to find a way to undo this death.
