it's probably a bad thing when the new allergist calls you an overachiever, right? 86 pinpricks later on my back and the nurse comes in to check on me and make sure I didn't die or something and she's like WOW are you allergic or what to dustmites (this I knew)It had to be a pretty severe reaction to get a rise out of a jaded allergy nurse. Then the doctor comes in and says, 'you're an overachiever, I bet you were the type who had to get all A's in school' get bent doc. They shove another 30 odd needles into my arm with more stuff to make me all itchy.

I also failed the breathing test he made me do. It's sort of neat now. You blow into the spirometer and computer birthday candles go out. I failed to blow them all out (except once) even after an 8 minute nebulizer breathing treatment.

The upshot of this is I need more medicine (whines loudly) I'm on two new allergy pills and another inhaler for a month to see if it helps. And what am I allergic too? Dust mites (two types) cockroachs, and out of 12 tested molds, six of them including aspergillus which I was chronically exposed to in my former career (aspergillus balls in the lungs were the #2 injury for us) oh and oysters. No loss there.

well i should go pack or something. apparently once I get to I-64 in KY tomorrow it's smooth sailing. GETTING there however is a trip and a half. Sheesh.

I wonder what my allergy test will reveal. I'm frightened at this point it will reveal *nothing*, and they'll pat me on the head, say "it's all in your head" and send me home. So far, the corticosteroids I've been taking for two weeks today have done nothing.

Nothing for my symptoms, which are very real and very annoying, damn it.

I can't do the pinprick allergy test. I react to all scratches no matter how minor. I know there's a name for it, but I can't think of it at the moment. It's tied in with my very sensitive skin.

hmm that's interesting...is there a way for them to determine causative agents another way?

Some were found through blood tests - food allergies and such. Though mostly, I just keep a journal of sorts detailing when I feel bad and what I was exposed to and what I ate/drank. It's not exact, but it works.

always a good idea anyhow since they dont' test for everything of course. I forgot to have him explain gustatory rhinitis (I know what it means but how is this treated since this screws me over all the time)
