So I did make the long boring trek to Evansville IN. I was a little worried to tell the truth. With the way the bottom has been dropping out of my sugar I was afraid of a hypoglycemia attack which would end up with me in a ditch. So, I got real cookies with sugar and everything to combat that for the trip. Got there and evil_little_dog and I went shopping and got a new tv for her new house. Also hit the Greek restaurant (I mean I’m all about real food for a change. Glares at Bob Evans). I got to meet Vinnie the skinniest dog alive. (Rogue and Pewter I’ve known for years now) and got to see the strangeness that is
evil_little_dog’s house.
The next day we went to holiday world and amusement park in Santa Claus (no lie) IN. It’s a small park with a holiday theme. It’s a nice little park...barring the musical selection (i.e. Christmas music in Christmas ville, patriotic in 4th of July ville etc). The Voyager rollercoaster was fun but as a wooden coaster it was VERY jerky. In fact it and the Legend made going on the last coaster impossible for me. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I love coasters but the arthritis in my neck didn’t appreciate those two.
The most surreal part of the park was a) Udderly Blue ice cream, a soft serve that was...powder blue and tasted...blue and b) The Gobbler Getaway which is a ‘dark’ ride where an animatronic granny tells you about the turkey calling you get to do. We call it ‘calling’ for the kiddies. Basically you ride around aiming at the bull’s eyes to ‘call’ the turkeys back to the barn. I love things where I get to shoot a gun (excuse me turkey caller) At the end there were all these happy dancing cardboard turkeys....frightening really. I did quite well. If I had to depend on
evil_little_dog for my turkey dinner it wasn’t happening.
We ended up at a fantastic BBQ join in Eville for dinner and then home to watch the Fruits Basket anime which has voice actors that go to a new level of bad and the finally uncensored, uncut Gatchaman anime.
I had to leave the next day but not before the tasty Asian buffet came into play. Then the long boring drive back...and then the food poisoning I did to myself. Sigh. And all the stressful stuff awaiting me. But at least it was a good weekend.
