I hate this and I'm not happy. I finally got a call back from the endocrinologist because my sugars are high. REALLY high. Dangerously so. The weird thing was two months ago this drug made them go too low as I'm sure you remember. Well his only reaction is 'go on insulin'

Okay yeah that will work BUT it doesn't tell me WHY this happened. Okay I'm sorry but one month you're under tight control and the next nothing works? What the hell is that about? I want answers to that. A shoulder shrug and 'that's how diabetes goes' isn't good enough. Less than 3 months ago, I just needed pills. SOMETHING has to be happening and i'm not going to be satisfied until we know more.

the other thing is on break I didn't take the injection some times and my sugar improved. Well i decided today to a) stop the injections and see what happens (its not like i'm going to get WORSE) because i'm thinking this drug is doing something b) after a week of this I'm going to restart the other medicine he stopped.

Is it dangerous? yeah but i'm a medical doctor and I have testing equipment. I know what to do. If it makes no difference then what choice do i have? if it does make a difference I want to know what the hell he's been doing to me

I don't blame you at all. It sounds like you couldn't possibly do more damage than this guy already has.

You'll be in my thoughts, for sure. Insulin is NOT the goal.

no it is not. I want to know how in 1 1/2 years I can go from ONE pill to THREE and an injectiona nd NONE of them work

could you go to another doctor and get a second opinion? Id have thought they would want to make sure there wasnt an underlying problem.

have you researched it online at all?

And how, if you're drinking booze, you don't have a problem at all (or didn't used to, at least).

I think your body is far too advanced or something for normal doctors.

not here, not without waiting half a year and driving about 100 miles but i might do it just in case. He also MIGHT do something different when i get to talk to him

I am so sorry. But I agree, I would also want to get a better anser than who knows.

I hope things improve.

First, **hugs**
Sorry you're having such trouble with your diabetes.

My best advice is to recommend you see another doc for a second opinion. I realize you are one, but I still think you need a new, objective opinion on what's wrong. A fresh perspective might just be the key.

I'm sorry. I hope you get a handle on this and things take a turn for the better. Take care of yourself. Diabetes is a nasty disease, as you know all too well.

I think you would benefit from seeing a better doctor, one who is perhaps more familiar with cases that veer from the textbook. Unfortunately, that sounds like it'll have to wait until you're in a different area, so I wish you luck on the jobhunt as well.

This may warrant another postcard.

This is so scary but I understand that you need to know what's going on and I don't blame you for experimenting.

Just be careful. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Sometimes I wonder about how much pressure doctors are under - a friend of mine at work was given the runaround about her foot problem until it landed her in the hospital (I still don't know what she had, but she'd been passed around from GP to specialist for MONTHS).

ANYWAY, I hope it works out somehow - that things come into balance! In the meantime, hugs and sugar-free chocolate!

thanks. Seriously, this is weird and since NOT taking the drug today my sugar has dropped 80 points. I almost feel loopy as a result

thanks. I WOULD like that. But it means waiting many months and a 80 mile drive to columbus at the very least. I still may do it

thanks and you're so right, this locale makes seeing someone else difficult.

i've been on the other side of the exam table too, as a diabetic wound care specialist. I know how unpredictable this disease is. I've had patients come in with a wound that showed no signs of infection and 12 hours later I'm amputating their leg. It's a scary thing.

Thanks for the thoughts

You know best what's happening to your body. How your sugar is. When you find the good place for you, stick with it.

J's done the same thing. He knows when he can get by without insulin, and when he has to take it. I did the same thing with my inhaler. 3 times a day was way too often for someone who'd been using it only when she needed it. So I cut it back. I've had fewer asmatha attacks since I did that too.

yeah I did that with my asthma meds as well years and years ago.

I think sometimes we take SO much mediciation we become toxic
