Murphy's Law or Pasta Party at COM's place
May. 3rd, 2007 05:47 pmI'd like to kick Murphy in his ass. So the only thing i needed to do today was go to work for the potluck lunch. I'm bringing the main part of the meal, the pasta bar. I was making three sauces, alla ceci (fire roasted tomatoes and chick peas), lemoncelli (lemon cream) and cinnamon carbonarra (cream and bacon and about a half dozen egg yolks, let's just call it rich)
At 11:30 I have it all done, the pasta is boiling, the sauces are finishing and all i have to do is fix my bed head. I swear to go the space-time continuum folded because by the time I got the pasta in a box and all the sauces in containers it was 12:15. i was SUPPOSED to be there at that time. I have no idea where those 45 minutes went.
Needless to say I was late. AND the sauces...the two cream sauces didn't thicken. This has NEVER happened before. Ever. And the eggs cooked in the one sauce, even though I tempered them. This has also never happened before. SOB. So now because several people were already done with lunch I'm stuck with a pound of campanelle pasta and three sauces. So who wants to drop by this weekend for pasta??

Date: 2007-05-04 02:06 am (UTC)I'll send it to your email. It's from Giada de Laurentiis (you can use all bacon instead of bacon and pancetta because pancetta is a) hard to find b) expensive as hell)
and seriously what is it with cooking for company. I never even usually temper the eggs or let the sauce cool first. This time I did both (like I'm supposed to) and that's when the eggs scramble...
