Graduation Day

Wow, almost everyone i know in the biology department graduated today. It was not the best day weather wise. It rained all morning (so the programs and the seats were wet as hell) and then it got just hot and humid enough to make the regalia miserable. I got snagged for hand shakes and photos this year.

The provost stopped me and told me that two of my students who went to the phillippines on a medical charity mission (i need to post the link for that) gave a presentation to the board members and told them all about what I did to help prepare them (me and two other profs) and that the board was impressed. That's good to know.

Then someone locked all the office doors...only most of the faculty left them unlocked because we had no pockets in our regalia or skirts. Sigh. Luckily i found one of the older faculty members who had a master since the campus cops were worthless.

At the last moment I got invented to another faculty member's house and mini-party (one of the ones I used to do friday afternoon wine and cheese parties with). I wish they would have told me since they always catch me the day off and I'm ALWAYS empty-handed. It makes me feel bad. I have bottles of wine here that I'm keeping for those parties but they never tell me...

I spent a nice leisurely evening with several faculty members, drinking beer and eating cheese and getting my ankles licked by B's chow/lab mix (who just thought she was a lap dog and it was my lap she needed to be in.I'm the only one who didn't get barked at first)

Congrats on surviving another year! Now if only finals day would hurry up and get here. It's the last stretch that makes you feel like it's a time warp.
