Okay so...midol is the biggest rip off on the face of the planet. I've never actually bought it. I'm content with tylenol. However I had a coupon that would make it .48 cents so why not. I read the box...it IS tylenol with 'the bloat fighter' of two diuretics one of which being caffeine. You'd be better off doing what i've been doing all along washing two tylenols down with a cup of coffee for a third of the price (did the math, 100 midol would be almost 40$ You can buy a whole lot of tylenol and coffee for that). (and Midol complete is nothing but the same diuretic with naproxen instead of tylenol, oh the marketing genuis of this stuff)

And what the hell was up with series finales this year. Was there any that didn't suck?

Okay so now there's no team? I don't see them losing the whole cast and it wasn't even interesting. They spent more time on their drama than on the case which wasn't all that good either

Gah, SVU, your personal dramas are driving me nuts. What I like about L&O is that you don't usually do this but with half a season of Benson's crap, you end up with Stabler's. and it wasn't interesting either

The Mike Logan ending was so WTF, i don't even care if his partner goes. She has zero personality and the give Mike a girl and kill her the next day was so overdone. And the Bobby Goren ending, what purpose did it serve to make him related to a serial killer out of the blue?

WTF? If you're going to have a member turn out to be a traitor shouldn't you be setting it up? WHy pull it out of nowhere (even if the actor wants to leave, find something better) I thought maybe Megan would go (since she just had a baby) but Colby?

Wow, the final was SOOOO dull and unbelievable you might win the award for the worst of them. Oh look, just like I said, Tony's girlfriend is in bed with the enemy (or related to them as the case may be). didn't see that coming, no, not at all (only since the second moment she appeared)

Again, what's with the 'problem with an agent' crap being pulled out of thin air? And you guys let the same serial killer escape you TWICE in two shows (okay so he's dead this time but still)

open a window. some of these really stank.

CSI's finale was rather bleh. The final reveal of the miniature killer was kind of a let down. And the ending felt a bit forced, but considering the off camera stuff going on, it was the best they could do.

As far as good finales...

Lost... mindblowing. Answered questions, gave us some new ones, and an awesome twist at the end (even if I had figured it out halfway through). If only they hadn't seemingly killed one of my favorite characters.

Heroes... was my top pick until I saw the Lost finale. Felt a bit rushed... really should have been a two-hour episode.

Jericho... Again, I didn't like them killing off one of my favorite characters, but considering the show was canceled, I guess it doesn't matter now.

The Unit... They managed to completely shake up everything. I really thought CBS was going to cancel this one and keep Jericho. The season premier will definitely be interesting.

figures. all shows i don't watch except Heroes and I didn't like that finale either...because it DID feel rushed. I think you might be right, two hours would have helped

I think Lost was one of the best finales I've seen in a long, long time. Mind-blowing (and did I mention how much Hurley rocks?). I'm still in mourning for Jericho.

I couldn't get into Jericho. I watched for about a month but it never clicked. Sorry it got canceled. Lost started when I only had one channel and it wasn't on it so i never got into ti either

Barb didn't care for it, either, but for some reason I couldn't stop watching. Of course, when they cancel, I wish I had quit when she did...

Midol is too friggin' expensive for me - and the grocery store I shop at doesn't carry the generic. I use ibuprofen with some Mtn. Dew (diet). CAFFEINE!

like i said my usual is tylenol with tea which pretty much equates TO a midol. what a gyp

I think that the only finale I was happy with was Supernatural's. Every other show was like "Yawn, what's on next?"

Well CSI: Miami was good but it was just another episode not a season ender so it sucked in that regard.

i would have rather have had that. I have no problems with that kind of finale. I don't need the wait 5 months to find out how it ends. I'll be back

They must make different kinds of Midol or something. I remember looking at Midol years ago and it was just ibuprofen. But maybe it was a different kind than what you were looking at. Or they changed the formula.

Sarafem is also just prozac, which is now available generic. I really wonder how the hell that's legal for them to do that, honestly. It seems like such a racket.

the way it works for prescription drugs is this, usually the drug hits the market in a raecemic mix (both S and L isomers) however usually only one isomer works or one works better. after the old one comes out in generic they rerelease the drug as one isomer only...and yes it's a racket

I had to look up what that stuff meant in Wikipedia. I had no idea it worked that way. It's certainly more complicated than the ads would tell you.

sorry to whip the biochemistry on you. hee.

It is. Actually there is one company (glaxo-smith-kline I think. Adverstising is wasted on me I can remember the ads but usually not the product/company) that said my baby was in diapers when we started working on this pill. Now he's ready to graduate high school. That's literally how long it takes. Making new drugs is very difficult.

for example prilosec is the raecemic mix. Nexium is the one isomer formula. One's OTC, the other costs me 165$...then again why should i pay out of my pocket for something my insurance pays for (because for some unknown reason the OTC is also NOT full strength and I need at least two a day)

And my insurance company is like 'when do you think you'll stop taking these.' Um dudes, i've been on medicines for GERD since I was 12. Does the phrase 'on it for life' mean anything

From: [identity profile] chaos-by-design.livejournal.com
What I'm wondering is how they make the decision which mix to put out on the OTC market. Like is prilosec less strong or less effective than Nexium, so do they keep Nexium prescription because they can make more money off of it? Or is it more dangerous?

Does the phrase 'on it for life' mean anything

Heh, I'm sure they'd just love to hear that.

Date: 2007-06-02 03:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
theoretically Nexium IS more effective since one isomer by default doesn't work and it's just the one isomer that works compared to Prilosec's mix. I'm not sure if they go to market unsure which of the isomers is the better (scary thought) or just do this on purpose to make more money eventually (pissy thought)

Meh. You're telling me that racemic mixtures are really just a way of diluting the effective chemical? What's the logic behind doing that? Or is that situation particular to Prilosec?

Sorry if my questions are stupid, I'm just curious but I know nothing about this stuff.

no that's how it occurs in nature. You have to refine it to get just one type. I don't know much more than that since I've never done biochemical research because well it sort of bored me to be honest whch is sad in a way

let's see
A - Benson's brother nearly gets killed over because accused of rape and gets her involved
B. Stabler's wife is pregnant and wants him back
C. Finn's stepson drags down the ENTIRE SVU (makes him out to be a crooked narcotics cop, brings up Benson helping her fugitive brother, and STabler covering up his daughter's drunk driving arrest. Only Munch isn't dragged into it. Finn's stepson gets away with murder and for all we know half the unit COULD be gone next year and STabler's daughter is rearrested

the ONLY good thing: Adam Beach seems to be joining hte cast. I love him
