Realization #1 - my bed needs replaced. I didn't have numb arms or back pain once at home on the new bed. Last night I woke up three times from the pain. I didn't want to replace it until i moved again. I don't think i can wait

#2 - walking just a little helped me lose weight. Other options are now available. So i'm putting up a ticker to see if it helps (even if it means sharing that weight...sheesh)

#3 - you'll be seeing progress tickers for my original fiction popping up. If you don't see them regularly, kick me

ETA - Dear Chemistry/Match/eHarmony why do you bother to ask me my age/racial/religious preferences when you're going to IGNORE them totally in my matches? And really I said no more than 50 miles away. Why is everyone 130+ miles away? Am I that difficult to date. Don't answer that.

ETA #2 - got this Bleach bit of fun from [livejournal.com profile] snakecharmerfox

Cornerofmadness's Zanpakutō:

Fang injects a venom upon impact that slows the opponent by 25% and resembles a magnificent manriki which has a strangely long chain after it is unsealed. Cornerofmadness invokes shikai with the command "Dance, Fang!"

What's Your Zanpakutō?

That's one of the reasons why I had to finally get rid of my futon, instead of waiting for my room to be set up downstairs. (Like that's ever going to happen.)

Yeah, this bed is old because i couldnt' afford anything when i moved. I can now. and if I'm here another year/semester whatever, it's not worth it to me to be in pain that long

Good luck on the weight loss! Just don't overdue it like those funky girls that keep showing up on TV... And that Bleach thing got me curious. My zanpakuto in all it's pervy gloriousness:

I'll know when someone's taking a shower ^_^ *plotting evil fangirl glomping*

Well, it's good you've found something that'll help you lose weight. And hey, walking is cheap and reasonably easy to do.

Good luck with the weight loss stuff. Right now I'm trying to eat healthier, you know, push my diet more towards fruits and vegetables and away from junk food and chocolate (my big weakness). Let's see how that goes.

good luck. I'm already eating right (thank you diabetes) but that made me lose exactly zero pounds. sigh

I have to say that I definitely could stand to eat better. I like my cookies. And I can't stand dieting, so this is about as close to dieting as I can get.

I'll be getting a gym membership too, as soon as I find one I like.

Never been to Curves. What didn't you like about it?

I want to find a gym that has a pool.

everything. No pool, no classes, no weight room, just a circuit of equipment that you rush around very quickly. It is a good cardio work out but SO boring.

Good luck on the weight loss; you can do it!

My resolution was to go running this summer, but it's rained almost every day since the beginning of June. Not conducive to going outside. Stupid weather.

I had to do the Zanpakuto thing:

This is very true... the part about walking just a little.. even getting a small amount of exercise is good. Obviously start small and work your way up. Don't throw roadblocks in front of yourself, and strike the words "I can't" from your vocabulary. You can do this, and exercise generally helps your insulin work better for you... as your cells stop resisting it and start saying to it "Oh. yah, I can use some of that, thanks" and actually taking in what the insulin is carrying. I don't know if you're insulin resistant, but some of the things that you've mentioned, such as the blood sugar wanting to be high despite more and more insulin, it sounds like your cells are just saying "SCREW YOU" which I'm sure you know that unused energy providers gets converted to fat by excess insulin and stored for later. So maybe this will help get that issue under control a little better too.

Aching and soreness etc is why I ultimately moved to the floor for sleeping. I sleep Japanese style now, and roll up my bed when I'm done sleeping. Takes less time actually than most people spend making their bed every day. hahaha. and make me have more space in my room during the day for other things. It's very comfortable for me.. I took it with me on the MS 150 ride. I added another thermal blankie and didn't take the comforter, doubled it over before I rolled it up and tied it with a pair of belts so it was the size of a very big sleeping bag... very big. hahaha .. I admonished them not to loose my bed when they loaded it on the truck.. I told them. "That's my bed... my WHOLE bed that I sleep on every nigh... so please don't loose it." They weren't phased.. apparently on these biking events they deal with weirdos like me all the time! hahahah

so far the exercise isn't making a difference in sugar even though it should. i'm trying very hard to get the keepers of the pool to give us faculty time since that is one place I can exercise with minimal pain. The myofascitis often prevents me from doing it elsewhere until i get used to moving again in a pool.

i could never do that. It's the hardness of the bed that causes my problem, some thing as firm as the floor puts me into spasm (yay for the yoga exercises on the floor, stabs mat for not being cushioning enough) i'm not sure if that's due to the myofascitis or the ligmanetous laxity.

Its' funny.. my bed is firm in the support area, but the surface I actually sleep on is also super soft. Much softer than the surface of a mattress, only it stays flat when I lie down on it.. i.e. it doesn't flex. But different people have different sleep needs. When I sleep on a bed I have almost constant tendinitis in my elbow, and my arthritis in various places is much worse.

On that exercise not making a difference in sugar, I think that it takes time for your body to do stuff... It expect that you'll quit in a short while, so it's not going to change the way it does anything if it can help it. Just be patient and apply some positive though. Where's your green candle? Light it.

I think my green candle went and hid. Right now listening to crystal water music (well even if Dr. Emoto is wrong, it's pretty classical music)...i don't know where i put my candle magic book. I hve it though. You'll quickly learn I'm impatient and pessimistic, qualities I've tried to change but need more work.
