oh how I missed you. Giggles. Students to torment. Oh how I love it. I know it's wrong. I don't care.

and since I'm back home, let me make you this offer, I know i missed out on a LOT of stories while I was gone. Send me a link to anything you wrote that I missed. Entertain me please.

[livejournal.com profile] rainoubilette offered up 'boot camp' as a description of summer classes in college. Ilove that. (note to my younger flist, don't take these things unless you have NO choice)

time for boot. HUP two three four.

Hm, did you catch The Price of Trust (http://lyricnonsense.livejournal.com/22284.html)? I think I posted it when you were in Vegas.

And there is also a really short triple drabble called Birthday Wishes (http://lyricnonsense.livejournal.com/23020.html)

And I knew professors got some secret glee from torturing us academic peons. I actually took a summer class once and it was really dull despite everything being crammed into six weeks. Can't imagine taking that class for an entire semester. But maybe I'm a masochist.

That's like people taking a foreign language and other classes together in the summer. What are they thinking??

Date: 2007-07-09 08:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
really they should only allow ONE class per summer semester

Especially don't take a Literature class over the summer! Bad, bad, bad idea! I like to read, but that was just crazy!

I also took a Chemistry class over the summer, but my high school chem teacher also taught the summer chem class at the local Jr. College so I already knew her, the material and I breezed through! I probably wouldn't have taken it otherwise!

Students to torment? I'm not sure of where you work but I remember something about medical knowledge...You're hiding people under the sheets in the morgue and scaring the hell out of people aren't you? If you are then..curse you. I want to do that! Anywho, hope you're enjoying being home at last. I read your last post or two and hope your garden is fairing better than what it was.

I unfortunately, don't have anything to entertain you with...I am ashamed.

i worked at a small college now so while I am a medical doctor, the closest i come here is cat dissections to actual cadavers but I DID the morgue sheet thing when I was running the lab in med school.

my garden is still a mess. Gah.

i'm sure you'll eventually have icons/stories/layouts that will entertain me

Well, I think it was while you were gone that I lost my mind and started a multi-chapter Gojyo x Yaone fic, which can be found here:

http://redbrunja.livejournal.com/50015.html

And I can't image taking summer classes - by the time june hits, I never want to see another sylllubi ever again.

indeed. 5 hour labs. kill me

Who in their right mind would sign up for a 5 hour lab? Why?

Date: 2007-07-11 01:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
i have no idea. They're told it's easier this way. Hello i have to put a week's worth of lecture into a DAY and three weeks worth of lab into one. And i'm teaching two simultaneous 5 hour labs....tell me why I volunteered to do that!

The Boot in "Boot Camp" refers to professors kicking students in the pants to keep them "motivated". >:-D

Ever listen to Dr. Demento? There was a comedy troupe who sang a song called "Boot To The Head". >:-D Mwa-ha-ha-ha! It was by the Canadian group, the Frantics. I loved those guys.

There are two versions of the skit with the song, "Boot to the Head", done by the Frantics. One is Tai-Kwon Leep/Boot to the Head, which has the song at the end, which is where Ed Gruberman stands up and tells the mystic master he wants to "Beat people up". (My favorite line is, "I got the fancy pajamas!") The second is the reading of a will where everyone gets a boot to the head, including the cat; save the lawyer who gets a rabid tasmanian devil in his shorts... and all the money goes to "the people of Calgary so they can afford to move somewhere decent."

The Frantics recently did a few reunion gigs. From that CD, my favorite is their acoustic love ballad, "Scare" - which is "I'm not afraid of wild crocodiles, caribou or man eating bees/ I'm not afraid of death or early morning breath, but you scare the shit out of me!"

If you're into weird comedies - especially programs on PBS - you may have seen one called "The New Red Green Show". Two members of the Frantics are on there as Bill and Buzz Sherwood. :-)

OK. Triviata lesson is over.
Time to go make supper.
