Firstly, happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] fickledame sorry I missed it.

Well, there's new in the tale of woe about the electric company. They called me to tell me I'm in the clear...at 7:30AM. Thanks for nothing. AND then I got 16$ in the mail from them today (they're a non-profit, hippy-dippy co-op)

Darker inner muses - ever wonder if what you meant as being supportive advice comes across as strident or as know-it-all-ism? Or am I the only one who says something then wishes she never opened her mouth (even when no one does apparently misconstrue it)

I need to take a picture of my love lies bleeding plant. This was SUPPOSED to be a 16th century cultivar...well, i kept saying that the leaves looked wrong. Today it bloomed...it's BLUE. whatever the hell it is, it's NOT love lies bleeding.

and I got this from [livejournal.com profile] fic_variations for completing one of my june challenges.

for my Royai stories Flame of Desire

A Hard Day’s Night

and Thoughts on War Time

I still need to finish my Saiyuki claim

All. The. Time.

And then I think, "Oh, well."

Unless it's one of those stupid things that haunts you forever and you never know if the other person remembers or even cares what you said. But twenty years later, you're thinking, "What an idiot I was." Or maybe that's just me.

no definitely NOT you. I do that a lot. That's the kind of thing that keeps me up nights

Must be a human trait. I remember one of the stress seminars, the guide was saying, "Imagine your most embarrassing moment...yes, that one. Now play it again in your head. Just how it happened. Now, speed it up, really really fast. Now, imagine everyone but you talking like Donald Duck...."

It almost works. Almost. I think you need to do it about five or six times (or more) to make it really stick. But now, in one of my stress-filled imaginings, I actually hear the other person talking like Donald Duck.

yeah you mentioned that once. I've never quite gotten it to work

Of course, it still bothers me somewhat when it pops up in my head. But at least the Donald Duck voice is amusing.

Yes, we would love to read your Saiyuki claim. Especially since I've finished all the volumes I have and must wait to get more.

(I would kick your electric company.)

I do remember that my aunt once had the same thing happen when we were gardening together, it turned out to be a variety of columbine....

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
nods, this isn't columbine, it'll be fun figuring it out

Hee. Hope I'll be able to help once you get the photos posted.

Also, in answer to the "darker muses" question up there... you're far from the only one who's got that mental tic, I think. I certainly do.

You definitely aren't alone on that one. My words are often taken the wrong way (usually by idiots or by snipes who assume everyone is out to snipe).

And it seems I'm in very good company

Yep, 'Murder, she Wrote' is one of my secret pleasures. It's a hammy old show that reeks of bad acting and 80s hair, but I've always loved the idea of Cabot Cove (really Mendocino, CA), and I absolutely love Jessica Fletcher.

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
Ditto. mom and I were just talking about this when i was home. We loved this show but nowadays with the demands to be as forensically accurate as possible, MSW would never get off the ground

From: [identity profile] 0-mother-0.livejournal.com
Actually, that's one of the things I treasure about the show: It never focused on the science as much as observation and, of course, 'the mystery'. I also like that the show is set up to allow the viewer to pick up clues along the way and to possibly even solve the case before J.B.

You're right though, they just don't make'em like that anymore.

A&E used to rerun McCloud, Columbo, McMillian and Wife and I used to watch all of them too

Jessica! *beams* I used to love that show when I was a kid....

I still secretly watch it when no one's around - something about it comforts and relaxes me.

I can't watch it anymore but I've noticed (with vague interest) that Simon & Simon is available on DVD. AJ Simon is one of the few blond men outside of anime that I find attractive.

From: [identity profile] 0-mother-0.livejournal.com
Hee! They run 'Simon and Simon' on the Sleuth network, but I never watch it. It was never my cup-o-tea. And, ya know, I've never been into blondes myself... Although, I must confess a pre-teen crush on Shawn Cassidy (but I blame my love of mysteries a la 'Hardy Boys').

i liked Parker Steveson in the Hardy Boys...A J Simon was one of the very few blonds I've ever liked

Hahaha, oh, yes, The Hardy Boys. Yes. I watched that series avidly though I never really found either Shaun Cassidy or Parker Stevenson cute.
