but first a meme i got from [livejournal.com profile] ba4ever

QuizGalaxy!
'What will your obituary say?' at QuizGalaxy.com
doesn't that just sound like me?

Five hours of lab in one day = very tired COM.

so you asked for it...

new bed spread (ignore how badly i make beds and note the manga on the bedstand with Kuan Yin and Buddha looking on)

rocket dogs

cute clogs

for Silvrethorn, brain flowers

Feed Me Seymour (my bonsai strangler fig got out of control in the greenhouse while I was gone. If you don't hear from me you know i went in with scissors and never came back)

new windchime

okay now, you've heard me talk about the mystery flower. It was SUPPOSED to be a Love Lies Bleeding cultivar dating back to the 1500's. Here's a wiki article on it showing why i might want such a plant love lies bleeding note height, leaf structure and flower type.

Okay now I tell my students the reason we have scientific names is because only ONE thing in the world has that name mean while common names could refer to dozens of plants. Still, ancient cultivar aside, I can't imagine this ever getting the moniker Love Lies Bleeding. Does anyone out there know what it is?

what the heck am i?

OH, I LIKE IT ALL. Especially the frilly blue unknown flower and the bedspread.

And [personal profile] ishte sent me shoes to look at, too. What is it, girls' day out and I didn't get the memo?

you must have missed the memo

isn't it a neat flower. I hope to get seeds (only one out of 6 plants lived sadly)

Same thing with the flowers I bought on line...and the one that grew is just sort of 'stalled'.

hmm that's bad. mostly it's my fault. I let two burn up in the starter pack before i got them into a pot and the others died while I was away

Well, I lost two seeds...two I planted in the ground and never found again and Mom stuck two in a starter pack and only one came up. We put it in the ground and it stalled. I don't even know if it's topped three inches yet and the growing season's over half over by now.

that's definitely stalled. I just found the bean and squash seeds I forgot to plant...

Your blue mystery flower is Nigella, aka Love-in-a-Mist. It's very pretty, but no, nothing like Love Lies Bleeding (not even the same family).

Great bedspread. Your bedroom looks so much more Oriental than mine. I'm jealous.

thanks. I figured you would know. well i'll have seeds. This thing gets weird pods.

I like it. It was 50$ for Domestications. Not the world's best but it's pretty.

Sorry to jump in, but that's the official name? I hadn't known that, thanks.

Nigella Damascena is the scientific name. Love-in-a-mist is the common

Ooh, thanks. Now I know what to get for the windowboxes once I've settled in next summer....

nods, might be hard to find. Reading online says they're unpopular because they're weird looking. i like them

Hm. I have no idea why ours are so thin compared to that, then... we've got a pretty lazziez-faire gardening policy here and they get the same treatment. XD

maybe they like where they're at compared to yours who knows. Mom planted half her tomatoes at Grams half at her house, they get the same treatment. Gram's are fantastic mom's less so
