thoughts and oddness
Sep. 18th, 2007 09:40 pmOddness first - I got up for the usual bathroom break, this time at 4 AM. I lay back down and I swear I'm still awake when I hear this choking cough that sounds like its coming from under the bed. I KNOW that what happened is I did fall asleep, probably just very briefly, even though I think I didn't and that sound was me coming out of sleep apnea event where I stopped breathing again.
I know this. My brain is like look under the bed. Here I am at 4 in the morning looking under the bed (there's nothing at all under there), then the closets then each and every room. As if anyone could sneak in.
evil_little_dog will tell you my place creaks like a haunted house. No one is sneaking into here.
Today I get the courage to finally call the lawyer and his number on the paperwork is in columbus but I know I called him here in Jackson. I call that number and it's been changed to the Columbus on. I talk to his receptionist and ask about that (since as you know Columbus is about 90 miles away where he is down town). I liked this lawyer when I talked to him. I want to see him. Turns out he was ALWAYS there but just had a number here (you'd think he would have mentioned that). Anyhow I DO plan to drive up there since honestly there won't be that much face to face time with my lawyer and I'm sure a lot can be done over the phone, fax and online (or am I wrong? I'll be sure to ask him) Well I needed to have my credit counselor meeting first so now I'm even more behind. I could kick myself. I called one off their list the SAME ones I used 10 years ago. As much as I learned and liked living in NY it was the WORST thing I had ever done to myself. I'm just now getting out of the hole that NY put me in (and now i'm back in the hole thank you loans)
stuff I've recently read - books
I wish I had a camera today. Roy the cat jumps up on the door jam meowing. I tell him to shut it as I get his food. He wants in the house. I say no, just eat. Well he's not about to give up but he wants his food. So now he has his back paws on the door, ass in the air and his front paws around the food dish which is about six inches down (since my landlord apparently plans on us falling out of the apt) on the porch and he's eating in a headstand.
As for this, which I'm sure some of you heard about, with LJ tracking things, I'm not getting too upset about it. Want to know why? For one, they let you opt out (I've done so). If they didn't then I'd worry. But let's face a very uncomfortable fact here, we're always being monitored and tracked. You think not? go look at the TOS for some of your email servers, they share information, so do some of your ISP's. How about your car? Does it have GPS? Your cell phone? Your easy pass for the toll roads? You're being tracked.
In fact the 'campus security' at larger schools that can afford it are in fact able to pinpoint any student anywhere using the cell phone. I'm actually off the grid at my school since I have a PHONE. Imagine that, a phone, nothing more nothing less. No games, gps, no nothing.
You think your private medical information is private? Yeah right. Ever suddenly get coupons for the medication you're taking? I do. The instant I bought a glucose monitor I was innudated with diabetic help magazines and coupons extra. The drug companies know you and share your info.
Bought an adult toy for a friend guess who got that info sold. I keep getting all this stuff for a gender and preference I don't share.
Bought a leather purse at JC Penny's two weeks ago. Guess how many leather catalogs I suddenly got since.
Know what one of the top five ways to lose your job is? Playing on the net during work hours. You only think no one knows.
Do I like that every move I make is watched? No. I hate having to need spybot and ad aware to remove my footprints and those tracking me back. I'm not comfortable with people seeing what I do and using that information. But it's also part of the 21st century. Big Brother's watching. Isn't that a creepy thought.
