I can't make tests ALL the time

It only feels that way (giving 4 this week). And in the process I needed a brain break. I read #75 of FMA and had a thought for the post-movie story I'm working on. Well not so much a thought as a question. Maybe someone on the list knows. In the anime/movie did Rose's son ever have a name?



Actually it wasn't the volume that made me sad but more so the implication. To be honest the beginning bored me. I really didn't need to see them digging the array ditches. I can't say any of it was exciting but it WAS important to know revealations. father turns out to be pretty much who I was expecting based on 74 and Hoho got the way he did also as I figured he would. Still, again, drastically important info. And his revealtion to Izumi, critical. (granted if all Ed had to do was ask for his father's help in restoring Al, I think the boy will hang himself with his own braid)

So what made me sad? Well...almost thinking about Ed's future. I mean Hoho was a cute kid but geez, he grew up ulgy. Here's hoping Ed has enough of Mom in him to avoid the big square head and honking beak of a nose. Or at the very least please don't grow that beard. I hate beards. And seriously Hoho, it's been centuries find a new style.

No the sadness is from the thought of wow, now we know so much. Izumi is bound to find Ed and tell him and Al what she knows. Roy and Riza, Ed, Al, Winry, Fuhrer and Homunculi all look to be poised for the final count down. I think this chapter hit it home that soon, this story might be over (and unlike Bleach where I thought maybe it would end with the recovery of Rukia) and doesn't look like it will continue long beyond that grand finale. (I could be wrong of course). As much as I read, I hate endings (I find them hard to write for the same reason I hate to read them), it's like saying goodbye. Maybe because I do it so often in RL, i move for good every few years, I'm always saying goodbye. I'll miss it when I don't have a new episode to look forward to. I'll move on. I always do but I'll miss it just the same

and since i polevaulted over the word count AGAIN. let's see if i can get to 30 K by the end of the week

see, now I was thinking "dipshit, you know damn well because someone must have told you by now that Ed is looking for the Philosopher's Stone to restore his brother's body and his arm and leg and you don't OFFER to it yourself because you're the damn stone? what the FUCK is the matter with you?".

I'm thinking immortality doesn't do much for your fashion choices. I mean, look at all those vampires Buffy scoped out just because of their retro gear.

Well the only person we know Hoho has contacted is Pinako. She might not have told him. He doesn't live in our reality, I've noticed. He never 'got' a lot of normal human things (and seriously what's wrong with Pinako?? She has KNOWN Hoho since she was a young woman and knows he's not aging. THink she would mention this to Ed. I have a feeling she KNOWS or at least suspects what Hoho is.

And I'm wondering if in order to save Al, Hoho has to do to Al what was done to him and he might see that as a fate worse than death

You think she might not have told him? I can't believe that. I mean...sure, I could see Hoho not asking about his kids, because he's got that weird uninvolved parent thing going on, but I can't see Pinako not telling him.

I don't know what she knows. She probably does suspect something's weird with him, but maybe she figures it's better not to ask, or that it's his business? Who knows.

that's a possibility. he still seems really amazing unconcerned about his children though, despite all the new knowledge we have about him.

well since we don't know what Pinako told him it's hard to say. I figure she HAS to know he's not human. He's at least her age and not aging. She might feel the brothers are better off without him.

I see Hoho as no longer human. He doesn't think the same way any more. He's ALWAYS been aloof, almost frightened of his children

It really is coming down to the wire, isn't it? I read somewhere that Arakawa said there was only going to be 88ish chapters, though I can't for the life of me remember where that came up. It gives me the sniffles to think of it ending (especially since I only discovered the manga about a year ago).

What I wonder is aboutthe implication of what Hoho said (about the flesh lost being irreplacable because it is the manifestation of sin). Does this mean that Ed will not get his arm and leg back? I've suspected from the beginning that Ed was never going to get his limbs back. But then what does it make Al? We've seen his body waiting, so what was the loss of that, if not sin (assuming flesh lost for sin = irreplaceable)?

yes it is. Well, HoHo COULD be wrong. We know Al's body exists. it's not actually a piece of flesh but rather the whole thing so Al might be able to get it back. (Al might also have to die to do so and then I'll get mad and book a flight to Japan)

I never once though Ed would get back his limbs. And I've noticed in the manga (as opposed to the anime) as Ed gets older he doesn't really talk about that much. He's more focused on Al. For one, the Rockbells had to remove even more flesh to push in those docking ports so even if he got his limbs back there's parts of him in a surgical slops bucket somewhere

i think ed has always cared way more about restoring al anyway. if al dies or doesn't get his body back, i'll be on that flight to japan right along with you, armed with a cattleprod.

i have no idea. I don't keep up on the news end at all but it's very obviously coming to a close I think
