My cousin and uncle hunt a lot. I don't even know if they remember what beef tastes like. They must have shot 8 or 9 deer a piece this year (bow hunting, muzzle loading season, etc. - there are a billion different "seasons" when hunting). Plus, my uncle raises his own chickens (I hate chickens). They also hunt rabbit and squirrel as well as fish. Hell, the cousin even does taxidermy work and gets free meat that way.

I can post this over here (my friend has pet bunnies)... I like rabbit, too. Rabbit burgers are my fave.

My aunt Donna won't eat supper over at my uncle's house as she's afraid of eating a deer. She won't eat wild game. *Rolls eyes* Better than shooting the critter "for sport", I say.

Me either. To me, it's wasted if you shoot something and don't eat it. I must have SOME American Indian blood in me somewhere because wasted meat is just appalling. That's what is so cool about my cousin. His "city buddies" go hunting with Dell and when they kill something, they don't know what to do with it. Since he's there, he does everything. They take it back to his house where he butchers the meat and then taxidermies the head, hide or horns (when applicable). The buddy gets the trophy and he gets the food.

My brother's a butcher; he usually gets at least half of whatever game comes into the shop to be cleaned. He makes the best venison sausage.

We had bunnies when I was a kid...which sidelined into a rabbit for meat business. There were the bunnies for pets - our four or eight or however many there were for breeders - and the rabbits we sold for meat.
