My school has some exchange programs with other countries. We're getting a dozen students from China who are apparently arriving with the clothes on their backs and not much more. We (faculty, staff and students) have been asked to help out. SOme of those sheets and towels and some of the toiliteries I've stocked up are going into the kitty (bye bye hand lotion surplus) and they wanted us to sort of hang out with them and help take them places. I might have company on those runs to the Asian supermarket in Columbus.

I think i must be fighting an infection. I fell asleep at my desk. I fell asleep at the library. I really didn't accomplish much today other than find some horrifically gross photos for my parasitology class. America might have the worst health care insurance situation in the tech saavy world but at least we have sanitation. I don't know how the human species lived long enough to develop sanitation in the first place. Shudders.

I have Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology/Mycology this semester... and yes, I AM excited. >:-D Mwa-ha-ha-ha!

As for sanitation, all you have to do is look for photographs of people infected with roundworms and will be thankful for sewage and septic sucking services no end! Praise be to the sewer treatment workers!

I will admit that parasites creep me out yet I am fascinated by them. However, photographs of cancer tumors and STD infections turn my stomach. I can read about/ see anything but those two. Bleah!!

Yes, my class is clinical mycology. It's an online class, though. It's paired with clinical parasitology. The professor for that class was just recognized for her teaching in the NATIONAL organization of the ASCLS!! :-D I love knowing I have good profs! (Yes, I'm a student member of said org.)

Also, over last summer, I was at a used book sale where they had some old medical books. I got a photographic book of parasitology there for less that $1!! :-D COOTIES!

I also have clinical micro this semester. I love micro. I really do. The text book, I don't love, however, as the *%#$er is THREE AND A HALF INCHES THICK!!

Ooh - maybe you'll be cooking Chinese-style...:-)

also - take care of yourself. I know how hard you work, and I know how you can get so busy, but, don't forget to take care of yourself. :-)

that would be good. (though I lived three years with a Chinese immigrant in Med school and some of the cooking frightened me. The first day i met her she had a cow's tongue boiling away...blech)

thanks. I need to get some rest this weekend (note to self when you say you will NOT wait until the last minute to write up a brand new class, keep your promise to yourself)

Well coolness on the exchange students!

Too bad we didn't have 'exchanges' back in the day... Bear and I often talk about the disparity that occurred between the great civilizations of Egypt, China, Japan etc with all their advances in, well, everything - and the dumb people from the middle-ages (our ancestors) walking bare-footed in waste riddled mud, starving, covered in fleas and lice, and having absolutely no clue about hygiene, food storage, diet needs, nothing. Suffice to say: Information did not travel as freely as religion back then. Imagine how advanced we would be if instead of religious missionaries, the world had been sent doctors and scholars...

WoW!! Exchange students from China ehh, interesting, so you must be hearing them speaking Mandarin everywhere =D

Hmm..you kept dozing off, this is bad, I know how you feel, last year, when my Lupus was active, everywhere I go, I kept dozing off, even at work (luckily boss didn't see), and I feel that I didn't accomplish much at all, it real frustrating.

I even had 2 cups of Expresso in the morning and 2 more in the afternoon, but I only lasted until late evening 8pm *sigh* and I slept a lot in fact and I still feel tired.

It real frustrating esp. when you have lots of things to settle but can't settle because you dozing off to sleep.
