good and bad
Feb. 14th, 2008 05:19 pmThe good - I'm going to put for the idea of diabetes and CAMS as my research interest because i can at least understand it and have ideas on how to study it
The bad - this will make me look like a crackpot treehugger
The good - they're going to adverstise my job
the bad - i'm not sure yet if it's tenure but they want my help to write it up (i.e. tailor it so i fit perfectly). Bad you ask? well, do i really want to be here for life?
The good - Roy is home and he seems much better
The bad - he doesn't want to stay in. The worst - another 300$ gone.
The good - none, had to talk to the lawyer, happy Valentine's day to me
The bad - he says I'm screwed and wage garnishment in this state is 25%
The good - I have food to eat
The bad - it's uninteresting food and I'm alone other than an expensive cat who doesn't want to stay inside
ETA - I should have traded Roy for the tortoiseshell at the office today. She climbed on Roy's box and into my lap for head bonks. Then she put her arms around my neck and tucked into my chin. Then she was on my shoulder. She had her paw in my ear going to sit on my head when I was rescued

Note: I am not a left winger... but I'm a proponent of natural medicine. I don't like the term 'alternative' used in reference to natural healing, and consider modern chemical medicine to be the 'alternative' in cases where natural means have already been tried and more aggression is needed. Hee. But that's not any secret to anything.
In a more serious vein, I'd love if you'd post your findings on that stuff when you get done. It's of some interest to me.

Date: 2008-02-15 02:35 am (UTC)At least Roy is healing. Maybe he'd like to be an in/outdoor cat, like mine. If it is cold or wet, she's inside. When it's is warm and dry, she's out. Tonight, it's cold so she's on the heat vent.
Have a little self confidence about your ideas for research. Diabetes is a big problem in the USA and, since most folks are over weight, it will only be getting worse. Someone has to find a way to either cure it or a way to prevent it, and I think that person should be you!
As to the wage garnishment, WHOA! That sucks major ass. Again, when I win the lottery, I'll pay off you school debts. :-)

Date: 2008-02-15 03:52 am (UTC)OMG! No, I don't go to York College... but that is where I plan to go to get my Bachelor's degree (eventually). It is SO close to where I live, too! York is a neat place if you like history. Also, Hershey (the LAND of chocolate) is 45 minutes away, we have a HUGE county fair every September. (I never imagined myself extolling the virtues of York.) York was the site where the "Articles of Confederation" were drawn up (pre-Bill of Rights paperwork). It's about 30 minutes from Gettysburg, 40 minutes from Harrisburg, an hour from Baltimore. We have a bead store and a yarn/knitting store. There is a Native American pow-wow held at the fairgrounds once a year. Conventions at the fairgrounds for beading and rubber stamping. Oh, and the used book sale from Heaven once a year (benefits the local children's ward at the hospital). Occasionally the whole town stinks because of the town of Spring Grove has a MASSIVE paper mill. Uhm, we have a lot of local food producers - especially snack food companies (Including, Snyder of Hanover). Lots of shopping - we even have a Macy's now. Rent's not too bad either. Oh yeah, the "Amish Country" is just across the Susquehanna River. So is the home of past President Buchanon - it's gorgeous! Plus, Philly and Pittsburgh are easy to get to (go up I-83, get on the turnpike and drive). Oh yeah, Hershey has a chocolate weekend in Feb. sometime. I don't go to it as I'm too big already.
If you get an interview, we have a guest room! :-D Feel free to spend the night.
