[livejournal.com profile] midnightsjane challenged me to come up with 10 things I like beginning with the letter R. (if you want to play, just ask for a letter or tell me if you'd like to see me do another one.)

1. Roy, I have to. He decided he belonged to me three years ago and now he owns my wallet. (I also love his namesake Roy Mustang)

2. Reading. I absolutely love reading. I always have. I could read before I started kindergarten. I was reading at a high schoollevel before I got to third grade. I’m convinced it has saved my life. Whenever I get horribly anxious, I pull out a book. I try to put aside an hour a day in the tub for reading

3. rocks. I have always loved rocks. Once my parents filled my stocking with them as a kid, my first rock collection. I got the neighborhood kids to find and trade them like baseball cards (much to my parents chagrin since we’d get the river rock from their lawn edging)

4. red. It’s one of my favorite colors. Just look around my house

5. road trips. I don’t make as many of them as I used to but I used to love just driving all over to weird events.

6. rodeo. Yep, it’s true. I’ve been known to enjoy a rodeo or two. I like watching the bulls win

7. religion. I might not be the most religious person but I find compariative religion fascinating. I also love inventing them for my fictional worlds. Religion is a huge motivator in so many lives

8. raspberries. – They’re one of my favorite fruits. They grow around my childhood house and I just love their taste, especially with chocolate.

9. radio – I have mine on to classical stations all night. I have them on in the house and in the car. I listen to online ones in the office. Okay it’s obviously music I love but it doesn’t start with R

10. role-playing - I’ve been role playing since my childhood with Dungeons and Dragons. I love it. I miss the old days of LARP. I don’t get to do that any more. RPGS on line are fun too but everyone I’ve ever been in has ended in tears but that doesn’t stop me, even though maybe it should.

*Raises hand.* I used to barrel race in rodeos a few years ago..Up until I fell and fucked my lower back to high holy hell. =/ Doctor says I can't do it anymore, and can only pleasure ride on trails/in feilds and stuff...(Paha. Advanced trails are worse than barrels might I add) but it rocked.

Also, Raspberries are god, but I'm a blackberry whore.

All of my friends are DM's. I have a fairy dust di set and I wear my d20 religioiusly around my neck.

We used to have a barrell racing horse that retired from rodeos. Skittish damned thing! Threw me off and nearly stepped on me.

Actually that happened to me too. My mom's best friend's mother had one and she said 'watch out she takes turns tight' about three seconds too late for me to not fall off!

so, if you want a letter to try, how about B

I was sitting on our horse as it walked slowly. A neighbor kid showed up, fired off his BB gun and the horse jumped out from under me. As it ran around, it almost trampled me. It's name was Domino.

I'll try the B in my journal... gimme a couple of minutes.

meow

No, but I thought my mom would. Heh. She was the Queen of Over-Reacting. Why she thought she could handle being an EMT was beyond me. :-S Later, when the EMT thing didn't pan out, she worked as a nursing home CNA. All of her patients were dying (that's what sick, old people do when they're in a nursing home, Ma) she decided to work in a factory.

Mom got too attached to people when it came to her patients. I knew I'd be like that, so I went into the lab. Of course, the empathetic nurse is much better than the thoughtless one.

As for the Over Reacting, when I was tiny, I was in a high chair and my finger got stuck in the tray attachment. Instead of taking the tray off to release my hand, she YANKED my finger out. The scar is gone now but I had it for years. Typical.
