I am torn between cheering you on (as a former teacher) and cringing (as a former student who took Friday classes but hated surprise quizzing). Oh, well, hope everything gets better anyway.

(And I am reminded that I had a trig teacher in high school who used to announce his surprise quizzes by making noises like a WW2-era plane coming in on a strafing run as he walked down the hall toward the classroom door. Nothing got the books open faster. :-)

Sister KP asks last night about a snake she saw ("First one in years!") and I pointed out that if she saw a snake, she's less likely to see mice. That still didn't mollify her.

But the kitchen floor is tile, right? Could be worse. Could be carpet. Could be my bedspread!

it's linoleum so it was a simple clean up. I figured out WHY. I had to buy this weird 'scoopable crystal' litter. Scoopable my ass. The last time he went in, he must have peed like a race horse. That crystal turned into a molten mass of horrid GOO right inside the box. I wouldn't have wanted to step in that either

I always think it's a miracle of nature cats pee in the box at all. My older cat is disabled now and some times doesn't feel like climbing into the box. I'm used to replacing the cheap rugs under the box now regularly.
