Disappointment

I just mentioned to Mom that I was deeply disappointed to have not ONE call back on my resume. The last time I did this, I expected that. I had no teaching experience. Now I do and I'm still like a freaking leper. One school called, asked some administrative type questions then silence for two weeks.

I no sooner get off the phone with her than a college DOES call. The pros of this school, it's back in PA. It's a masters level school and ranked NINTH in the country which means good students. The cons, it's in the poconos region which might be too expensive and is even FURTHER from home than here (which defeats the idea of moving closer but not living next to the family) and it's non-tenure but 'renewable' and I don't know what that means. I'm glad they called. I'll surely take the interview but it might not come before i have to make a choice here.

Roy's sick. I think the tick I yanked off him dumped toxins in the process. Sigh. I need to get frontline. Also Roy, I know it's spring but there is NO race to see who loses the most winter fur. You win NOTHING by shedding prodigiously. You look like Pig Pen when you walk leaving clots of hair all over the damn place. My vacuum is broken and the smoky grey/beige carpeting isn't working for me. Don't make me shave you.

I decided to go to the glass slipper ball. Now cinderella needs two new outfits...new jewelry, new shoes. the credit cards went into hiding.

ETA - GIP! This is in honor of evil_little_dog's new LJ layout. The scary part is, this is what her living room used to look like. You practically needed sunglasses inside.

isn't it and it's par for the course for professors because it's not like any other job where you can pick where you want to go and be relatively sure you can find something in your field. This you have to hunt and wait and pray

non-tenured but renewable means that the position is probably a "permanent full-time temp". That's depressing, but it MIGHT lead to your applying for a tenured line when one opens up.
