And I'm thinking about wearing this to the Glass Slipper Ball (yes, it's black tie so the price on this isn't as bad as what I could be looking at)

i've found the people rude (cleveland and Columbus and frankly here), it's mostly flat and unattractive to the eye (barring the southern portions), part of it could be the very high stress I've been under all three times I've been here (medical school, starting a practice, teaching in aplace that has such a high illiteracy rate)

we have a high illiteracy rate compared to the rest of the US (only the south surpasses us), most colleges are growing in the number of students. Ohio has fallen 11%. less than 8 out of 10 students even pass high school so they've decided to lower the bar even further so that illiteracy rate is going to rise

i've not even been that impressed with the tourism. Three times here, three times it never felt like home, three times I couldn't wait to leave.

i honestly dread not getting one of these jobs and being stuck here for life.

Ooo, we get to play Dress Dana! This is a lovely ensemble, as long as there's no "No Pantsuits" rule for the black-tie bash. Long ago, I used to get catalogs from a company called Art & Artifact, which also had beautiful dresses. I'll have to look them up and see if they still exist.

I lost my mind at Epcot and bought a kimono at the Japanese pavilion. Definitely not formal wear, though.

I think they poison the air at the Japan store. I did not have the budget for that kimono, but somehow the money flew out of my wallet the minute I set foot in that place. I was lucky to get out of there with just the kimono and a pair of socks, because I wanted half the stuff in there. You and Sharon and I need to get together down here and visit Epcot sometime. It's no fun going with two old ladies who won't ride any of the rides or let you spend all day at the best World Showcase pavilions. You have to go with people who have their priorities straight.

You would melt like a popsicle at Epcot in June, but at least you can go in and out of the stores/rides/exhibits and cool off. I'm worried Sharon won't be able to escape Atty's clutches long enough to join us, though, since Atty has no other flunkies right now to take up the slack. We'll see how that works out.

I saw several lovely Gothy dresses on the Pyramid site. There are also a couple of sleek, elegant ones that I would buy in a minute if I had the money and anyplace to wear them to. You're so lucky to have an affair to go to, even at $200 a head.
