My mental health day
Apr. 19th, 2008 09:08 pmyes i have a test to make. yes i have papers to grade yes I have a lecture to write. did I do it? no.
I went to Columbus and to celebrate mother nature turned our beautiful weather into pissing down freezing rain but I didn't care.
I went to Borders and spent my Borders bucks ELD mentioned the new Her Majesty's Dog is out but didn't mention the cover was HOT. Damn gotta love me men in collars and chains. the Mangaka has a new one out A Wise Man Sleeps about girl who swallowed the philospher's stone. the stone was bringing her nothing but bad luck so says the Man in Black and well it has her mom died and her dad is in debt to the yakuza and RAN OUT leaving her to pay it off as a teen MiB wants the ring because it's a philospher's stone and he's from some alchemic organization. she doesn't trust him or the mob and swallowsw it he has his own ring and goes from bumbling twit to the uber male which last only 3 minutes (she asks him what are you Ultra Man? I'm probably the few of my manga reading friends who REMEMBERS him.) Found a few other new ones Nightmares for Sale by Kaoru Ohashi and Nightmare Inspector (see a theme?) by Shin Mashiba. I'll be sure to review them
Headed to the Asian market but was SOOOO disappointed. They didn't have any of the steamed buns I wanted, no red bean buns, no custard buns, no lotus buns. They had meat ones (eww) and radish buns and cabbage buns (WTF?) sigh. But i did of course spend money there, bought taro buns (they were purple. I wanted to see what purple tasted like) and brown sugar mochi and manju and someone was there doing what I'd like to do, go with a friend who can READ the damn lanugage or at least tell me what some of the mystery stuff is.
Went to Trader Joe's, came out spending LESS than 60$ and getting two bottles of wine plus no end of other things including two fancy cheeses (wine and cheese for the faculty thank god they graduated party in two weeks)
Went to the Mongolian BBQ, yum. They had prickly pear lemonade. OOOO yum. you can taste the catcus.
Went to the other Borders (just in case) then decided I really didn't need to go to the mall since I had already looked on line at teh stores that would have clothes for me but it was too early to head back so I was going to go to whole food mart when I saw a Micheals. They've upped their quality beads AND had ones that looked really nice then I realized they were plastic (still looked nice)
Saw a Steinmart and headed in. They had my pants. the ones I've blogged about. I danced around clutching the pants in two sizes. Apparently they were made for the Sri Lanka's who made them because the 3X barely fit (and no, i'm NOT that fat) but they looked SO good on. I was going to buy them even though they zippered in the back. I always sit-test pants so I sat down and they felt a little tight but then i saw a MAJOR design flaw. While standing the two layers overlap, sitting down they don't. Well if it was just the calves like that it would be sexy but it was the whole thing. I looked in the mirror and thought I see Holland I see France I see COM's underpants. Back on the shelf they went.
Dejected I nearly bought the 60's hot pink, white and black Op art swirl shirt (it was awfully expensive, steinmart isn't as cheap at TJ Maxx or Marshall's) with reflective silver discs in it. Then I saw it, bedding. Well I accidentally forgot to push the COLD button on the laundromat washer last time and shrank my bedding and my bras. In fact I had just been in walmart this week looking but thinking to self 30-60$ for WALMART sheets? No way in hell. Then There they were, 600 thread count Egyptian cotton blood red sheets in the clearance rack. 66$ a savings of 100$. I skipped merrily out with those.
Went to Ruby Tuesday's since i've had seafood four times this week (sale on at Krogers) taking Joe's Crab Shack out of the running. They were willing to substitue the buffalo burger in for their smokehouse burger. yay...until i ate it. Damn people, there is a thing called spice. try some. If not for the onions and BBQ sauce this would have been unedible.
Went to panera's for dessert...they had none. Went to Starbuck's, got the worst coffee ever, went to Krispy Kreme (since my sugar crashed three times today and I wanted something sweet just in case) On the drive home I look up in the sky and see it, it was perfect. ever look inside your mouth and see the contours of your tongue, how the middle is higher than the rest? That was in the sky. A big cloud tongue sticking out at me, with the tongue ridges and all. Right back at you mother nature.
still, a pretty good day and oh Roy's inside and being good. Yeah, it's raining. You're such a jerk Roy.
