I didn't get as much cleaned as I had hoped but I did make some progress. At least all the dress clothes have been changed out for the summer semester and winter dress clothes put away. Clothing for GoodWill has been bagged and documented.

I made [livejournal.com profile] makd's sweet violet bread today. It was tasty but...I'm not a baker so they are a tad dense (or are they supposed to be?). What irked me in the process was, on Sunday I bought fresh milk since the milk I had bought the week before was a 'manager special' (i.e. marked down because it was about to expire). The fresh milk went horribly bad in three days. Meanwhile the manager special milk from the week before still smelled fine. (i had forgotten to dump it on sunday when i do the fridge clean out)

Has anyone read The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing? This thing has won or runner-uped in six different awards and is a bestseller. It's YA and I have to know, does it get any better? Holy hell is this thing boring. How could it win so many awards? It's primarily made up of the longest words possible and I could forgive that if it wasn't almost 100% exposition. I'm abotu 50 pages in and I think 5 might have been 'action' (i.e. two people talking).

On the other hand The invention of Hugo Cabret is rather neat. It's actually listed juvenile by my library and I would agree with that so why am I reading something made for grade schoolers, my book club raved about it and the library had it. It's set in the early 20th cen. paris and not only is it a story it has nearly 300 pencil drawings that make up part of the story as well as clips from silent movies and I don't want to say more since it'll ruin the surprise.

and I'm nearly done with Until the Ice Breaks. Just a few more small scenes and it'll be 'done' granted it needs lots of editing and tweaking and fleshing out here and there.

I'll have to ask the library for it in person, it's on the shelf, which means I can't request over the internetz (which makes absolutely NO sense).
