Things I learned today: moving a futon mattress is next to impossible. It's all floppy and unweilding. I've move corpses that weren't half as much trouble, honest to God corpses. I finally get this jellyfish of a thing kicked down the hall into the living room. Why you ask? Because Zog found a trundlebed frame for the mattress so I could move it off the futon and have a bed that wasn't on the floor (obviously the futons are not designed for those with bad backs and shot knees) and have a futon in the living room to sit on because the bean bags now are NOT the bean bags of the 70's, you know the ones big enough that you could actually sit in them and be comfortable.
I learned that the futon wood frame was NOT nailed together in any meaningful way as the glue came lose and the bottom nearly took out my foot and the hard wood floor as I moved it into the living room. However, the nuts to the hinges ARE frozen into position so moving it into a sitting position isn't really possible but leaning on the bean bag and lounging on the futon is a nice way to watch my one tv station.
I learned that I'm not bright enough to open a trundle bed without cussing a lot and I'm still not entirely sure it won't collapse and eat me during the middle of the night.
I learned that the wash machine is dead. Okay I'm not quick to figure this out. The hot/cold cycle doesn't pull any water. Okay fine, I usually use warm since most of my stuff is cotton and that doesn't go with hot. But it takes me three tries to figure out that no, it's not spinning badly with dry at hte top and too wet at the bottom. It's neither agitating OR spinning which means trips to the laundromat (where's that laundromat/bar combo I keep threatening to build?)
I learned the dryer does indeed work but if you put it on the non-timed settings, the sensors do NOT shut it off (which was just as good since my stuff was too wet to be in a dryer technically so nothing actually over dried).
I learned that the TNT stock car race track just over the hill makes tons of noise.
I learned that even with a list I still forget half the crap I need to do in a given day

Sounds like a crappy day.

I don't think futons are designed for anyone really. I have one and I hate it.

Somehow my former roomie was sleeping on one for years. I'm shocked she's not paralyzed or something.

Yeah I am surprised too that I am not.

I think there are ones that are really good but they're more expensive.

yes, this one might have been expensive once (the frame IS nice wood) but there's no knowing how old it was. It came with the house when my friend bought it...

Hmmm my wood frame always has a hint of a mildew smell on it or a damp smell on it (it's a cross between the two.) I am debating with student loans if I should shell out for a laptop or a proper bed.

both equally expensive. I just had to buy a new portable phone. Mine croaked. This place smells of mildew because the original twit who owned it (not my friend) decided to carpet the bathroom and kitchen.

the best laudromat in the world would have a small coffee shop attached to it along with a bookstore.

failing that, can I have a laundromat like the one in EastEnders, so I can have Pauline or Dot do my washing?

my laundromat sucks. big time.

Okay Jaki, you try that. I'll do the bar ones, together we'll probably become rich.

I haven't been in a laundromat in years. THe last time I was reading some high end science magazine and everyone else had Ladies Home Journal...

Well, this sounds like one hell of a day. If I send some nice feedback for HS will that make it any better?

it sure would. Actually the day wasn't as bad as it sounds...or maybe I'm just tired...

It is my sincere beleif that futons are an evil alien plot. They're ALL like this. I've never met a futon that actually worked and was comfortable. Shun them! Shun them, I say!

I'm with you. This thing came with the house. I've banished to the living room for sitting when I get the urge to watch NBC since it's the only station I get (well I'll be there three times a week for Law and Order)
