FINALLY got back into the submitting game after a long hiatus. Not expecting much but I did learn something, fantasy-world steampunk which is technically what genre my story (and the novel it's derived from) is. Hmmm. I was wondering since this place had several genre based anthologies and I'm thinking well, it's not urban fantasy since it's not earth, it's not high fantasy, it's not dark fantasy and steampunk to me was always alternative history, think victorian with slightly more tech for example but there is now a subdivision of that so off it went to the steampunk anthology.

I would love to find a publisher clearinghouse of links that was searchable by not only genre but by character type. Probably too complicated to construct (or is out there and I'm unaware). For example it would save me a lot of time going through www.ralan.com if I could eliminate everything that doesn't take vampires out of the horror genre or vice verse, search by 'werewolf' and find likely markets. Ah well. Speaking of which I DO need to put in more time and find homes for the three other stories I just cleaned up.

got home and Roy was sleeping in the wagon. Damn too bad the camera was inside since that was SO CUTE

Nooo...though I can almost (if I squint) see it as a genre. I know I've read some reviews (a review) of FMA which called it "fantasy steampunk" - which wasn't what I'd consider it at all.

Vampires with brass fang caps! Steam-powered ear widgets for elves! Steampunk Buffy where Willow is a mad scientist!

interesting interesting

for me, it was rather eye opening since I have TWO original works that blend magic with 1920's tech and I was wondering how the hell will i sell that

thanks. One definitely does have flapper style clothing though with a much more progressive attitude toward women (though I suppose in the 20's women had it better than oh, say the 30's)

Weird subdivisions they're getting in genres these days. Silly postmodern fragmentation, grumble grumble.

Ahem. But anyway, good fortune with the submitting!

I've been looking over lists of agents for weeks now, so I know what you mean about wishing for something searchable. If I see any place or person who seems to take your sort of story, I'll send you the info.
