Hikaru seldom entertained singular thoughts. He and Kaoru seemed to share one mind, one heart. They liked and hated the same things. They thought up pranks together, planned outfits as one. Then she came into their lives. Hikaru, oblivious to the math being taught, cast his gaze toward Haruhi, his pulse speeding up. That familiar snugness made itself known, the kind that made teenaged boys take demerits rather than get up and go to the board.

Haruhi, the one thing that had gotten between him and his twin. Kaoru, sensing the impossible – that Hikaru and he had finally found something they couldn’t share – backed away from her. Hikaru was on his own and he didn’t quite know how to handle it. He felt lost then wobble.

Then he remembered Tamaki. He knew the club president was hopeless in love with Haruhi, even if the idiot didn’t realize it himself. Hikaru sighed. He wasn’t alone after all. He still had to share. Somehow, strangely, he didn’t mind. He wondered if they would.

For a while I couldn't remember their names and it drove me crazy. I tended to favour Karou but I did love that little Haruhi/Hikaru thing they attempted.
