And bah, ever feel like you're never going to get the hang of the writing gig? That's about where I am now. I put in description and it never seems right. I leave it out and get told I need it. I've yet to find that happy medium. Still working on editing back through Machiavelli Moon but after so many rejections it's hard going

Yeah. I made it off a photo I downloaded a couple of years ago... don't remember where. Oddly enough, I saw someone else one time using the same photo for their icon, with a slightly different crop.

Kiku (an old cat of mine) often hunted mice for me, and would set them gently on the very foot of my bed. ONe time She was on the foot of my bed and seemed to be trying to bury something... and I was like .uh oh.. did she have some kind of bizarre accident and now she's trying to hide it? The answer was no... she had put a gift mouse there, and Tammy's cat (my roommate at the time) Muffy had come into my room later and eaten all but one hind leg of it... Kiku was so mortified that she was trying to hide it.

Some readers (editors) like description and some don't. You just either have to write plot and character so well that the description-lovers don't miss the description, or write description so well that the description-haters don't notice it enough to hate it. See? Writing is easy! (It helps if you're a super genius with perfect turns of phrase just falling out your ass, of course. I don't know anyone like that, and if I met one, I'd probably try to slit his/her throat out of pure jealousy.)
