Figures, I post two ultra depressed posts then I go utterly silent over YIM all night. The people who talk to me nightly are probably wondering.
I'm fine. It got rainy and very foggy. I'm betting someone ran into pole. I had no power from 8 pm until now, 4 AM. You know it's a strange sensation. It gives you a peek into a world gone by. You want to write historical fiction, go rent a cabin for a night out in the woods where there are no neighbors, turn out everything electric. It is so dark so still it's unbelievable and then you hear it: the stuff you miss out on because of the hum of the electronics, the noise of fans, tv and radio. The nightbirds, the crickets, the frogs. I read a book once about how afraid people were of the dark even until the 19th century, but it that fear faded once Edison came up with the electric light and it spread.
Damn, Angelus and Darla would have had some obsidian nights in which to hunt. Stuffy nights. I sure did miss my fan.
okay now that I'm over being startled awake (Yeah I forgot to go and turn OFF the tv and lights after I read by candlelight all night) I'm heading back to bed.
but first LOOK. I have a paper dragon. Thanks guys. keep clicking make them grow up

Date: 2008-08-01 12:48 pm (UTC)The one time we spent a night camping out in an area like yours it was so noisy - frogs and crickets and other, unexplained noises! The desert at night, away from civilization, is silent as the grave, just the occasional hoot or hiss or howl. *g*
The paper dragon is cute!
