Well yesterday was the party in Cincinatti for my co-worker, P. It was a surprise birthday/retirement party...only P changed her mind about retiring. Undettered Hindus from around the globe came to this party, including her brother from India. She was stunned.

Me and my coworkers made a day of it shopping first then over to Cinci. I can not tell you my love of Indian food. It was heaven and her relatives were so sweet and concerned though I'm like seriously I'm fine. The food isn't too spicy. I can get my own water. Please sit and enjoy yourselves. Lovely little potatoe pancakes with a sweet chutney and a green sauce that could strip paint with its heat. Sag Paneer (my favorite), vegetable korma, channa masala and more, including a ricotta cheese dumpling in a sweet milk sauce (Okay so I drained that out of my spoon)

Music and traditional dancing. What fun. P has always told me she comes from a big family and has always treated me like one of them since I've been here (concerned with my health, helping me do yoga, feeding me INdian goodies). Well I found out she understated that. She's one of FOURTEEN kids. Wow. And all the grand nieces and nephews are in schools like Carnegie Mellon to be engineers. Impressive.

I accidentally hit the fastest route on my magellan instead of shortest and ended up in Dayton. COuld have stopped in and scared someone on my flist.

And today I felt hungover without the joy of drinking. (I think the heat in the park screwede my metabolites thank you sweat). But I did break my own record for coupons. 52$ between my plkus card and coupons. Last time [livejournal.com profile] ishte asked what the heck I was buying that i could save that much. Vitamins for one, Krogers has for three weeks now, buy one get one free vitamins so yeah I've been stocking up AND diabetic food is highly expensive. Much of what I can eat if I want to eat healthy is very expensive. Bah. But I think tonight I'll be having swiss chard right out the garden and my ichiban eggplant are about ready and ditto the gypsy peppers (hot pepper shape, bell pepper taste)

ETA save the dragons [livejournal.com profile] ishte has a link to all the dragons needing saving (except [livejournal.com profile] mjules since hers were snagged after this post). Mine look beautiful but some, especially [livejournal.com profile] ishte's are in trouble. click away

I will run over and click on [livejournal.com profile] ishte's dragons right away!

That party sounded wonderful; I'm terribly envious. Of the food, in particular, which is about my favourite food on earth.

Ha! thanks for the linky to my dragons. I'm very worrited about them. They are so small... and only have a short time left to become dragons.... *pout* Image (http://dragcave.ath.cx/viewdragon/ZK4b) Image (http://dragcave.ath.cx/viewdragon/EZET)

Now, about that shopping trip.. I think my shock has more to do with the fact that most of the time when I go grocery shopping, I wouldn't SPEND $52, much less save that much. For Lexi and myself, My grocery budget is usually about $20 for a week. If I'm lucky I might get to spend $30 at Save a Lot, but Kroger is too expensive most of the time. Their two for the price of one specials on the Kroger card is usually more than I'd pay for the same (or equivalent) product at Save a Lot... because Kroger's meat is just so expensive, I'm constantly shocked at how much they want for boneless skinless chicken breasts... so when they two for one special it, I find out the price of one is twice what I'd pay at Save a Lot... er... maybe it's not as good, I don't know. Maybe once my second job is in better shape and I can get on full time, I can afford to go to Kroger instead. I can ride my bike to Save a Lot though. I'm not to comfortable riding all the way back from Kroger laden with groceries.

we have no save alot and i dislike them (seen that chain written up too many times for infrractions especially with meat in other states)

I figure i'm diabetic. I can only eat a limited amount of things. I'm willing to buy top quality ingredients

Ha! it's not like I want to buy lower quality stuff. I don't have much of a choice in the matter. Our S-a-L isn't too bad though. You just have to pay attention to what you're getting is all.. . They don't have that much selection of fruits and vegetables, but I don't buy canned food, only fresh (for almost everything.) So I buy whatever looks the best, and I know what day to go and buy produce. (That would be Thursday for my store.) SO for me it's mushrooms and carrots and broccoli... cauliflower if it's not to expensive. Fresh green beans if they have them and sweet potatoes if they look good. Sometimes there is summer squash and zuchhini. Then apples and strawberries. Love oranges, can't eat them. *pout* blueberries if they're in season (which is for about 2 weeks a year... maybe 3...) after that they're unaffordable. *shrug* things are getting better. But I still can't stomach a $100 food bill even for a months worth of food. We just can't afford to eat that way right now.

At least I'm down to 133 as of this morning. That's a plus. My mom gave me the key. haha.. she said "I hate diets. I think you should just eat what you want and not eat as much of it." Well I've been doing weight watchers, and it has worked for me... but it's because I'm eating what I want... just not as much of it. Now that have retrained myself (again) on what is the right amount, I'm doing better.
