Okay seriously WTF body? I came home from my uncle's and told mom I'm feeling a bit shaky so I checked my sugar. 188. Sat with her for 10minutes then got in the shower. Started shaking, ravenously hungry, the place was spinning, nearly fell through the shower glass. Go out checked sugar it was 88. In 20 minutes... ate, feeling better now.

One thing I did want to mention is the WTFery K-12 education gets up to. My friend has been teaching 22 years college level but can't find work here so she thought okay H.S. (something I was thinking not that I want to but my college is in TROUBLE. They can't even afford to feed us at the faculty meeting). Because she's not an education major they won't hire her and if/when she gets the alternative certification to teach (something I'm considering) she will be considered as having NO teaching experience. In fact she would be considered a worse option than an education major with a science emphasis.

And we wonder WHY our schools are screwed up. Let me see, someone with a dual degree in chem and bio with 22 years experience vs someone with TWELVE credit hours of science which is all that is required for that emphasis. Who would YOU hire?

so if you ever wondered about some of your sons teachers....just because I don't have education classes? Let me say this I have had them and I've never seen anything more worthless or riduculous than the three teaching courses I took

is that everywhere in the country though, or just in your state? do different states have different rules for teacher qualifications?

all states. you need to have teaching certifications to teach K-12 but not college. it might be easier to get or your other teaching might count more in other states

Yeah, our school systems suck. I went to a 4 year college for 2 years and then transfered to the 2 year local college. Not a lot of my credits transfered even with good grades. It's like it never happened. I can't even fathom having 22 years of your career whipped out.

My cousin's kid, Nikki, wants to be a forensic scientist. She was supposed to go to Wayne High School in WV. (Read that as one of the crappiest HS's in the state with the worst schools.) Nikki looked into and decided to transfer to Cabell-Huntington High School - one of the best schools for science in the crappy school system. My cousin pissed a fit. She wanted the kid to go to HER alma mater... despite the fact that the kid would NEVER be able to have the grades to get into a college to study science. So, my cousin is now pissed at me because I stuck up for the kid and told her to go to Cabell-Huntington. *Rolls eyes* Hell, the high school I went to, we were allowed/encouraged to take COLLEGE courses if we had high enough grades (so, yeah, I did).
