It figures
Aug. 28th, 2004 04:56 pmAll week it was 75-80 degrees. Last night I started getting headachy. As I went to bed I shut the window thinking, hmmm cooler tonight than last night when I had the windows open plus the fan. So as I lie there, I heard the hard wood cracking like someone's there. I step outside and feel no entities. I go back to bed. More cracking. I now go check to be sure I locked the doors (yes I check for ghosts before living intruders, go figure). As I make my O/C check three times around the house, I notice the thermometer. It's 50 degrees. Ah, creaking solved. THe wood is snapping, crackling and popping from the 30 degree temp. drop (which explains the headache).
So of course my plan to go hiking in the woods (yes alone, who the hell said I was smart), is shot to hell because it's pissed with rain and in the 50's. I'm not going in the woods in the rain unless I'm hunting something. So, I go grocery shopping. My heart burn gets worse. I chalk it up to the whole I didn't take my stomach meds on time. It gets even worse after I eat. Well I have been stressed so that makes sense. My head hurts worse. I forgot to have tea this morning so I get a double shot expresso to counteract the whole caffeine withdrawal. My stomach now hurts like I ate acid until I'm sitting here with clenched teeth refusing to give my stomach the satisfication of vomiting all the while thinking of finding the dipshit who carpeted the bathroom and kickinghis dumb ass. best hope when I lose the battle I'm fast on my feet to the toilet (and I'll leave you with that lovely image).
I did go to meet some of Zog's friends yesterday at his invite. Little did I know he'd kidnap me and hold me hostage for SEVEN hours (if anyone says women talk to much I shall point to Zog and introduce them to him. All the women I spoke to while he was chatting with the men, pointed, giggled and said 'and they say women never shut up'). We did however hit all the little downtowns in the area. THree Lakes is cute but small. Eagle River is bigger and cuter. Minoqua is absolutely adorable. I think we've found a winner for our setting Sharon, only we need to move it closer to Green Bay or Madison or something in case we need a big town setting). It even has a cyber cafe (or was that Eagle River?). Rhinelander where I work has a nice small downtown too but it's not really cute. It's mostly a strip of bars (Yeah, you hear me complaining right?)
Started reading Passage by Connie WIllis as per Vamped Vixen's suggestion. Sheesh, I won't need my gun if someone comes calling. I can whack 'em to death with this monster book (actually ALL the books recced to me can be recieved by my new library which I did join, but since this puppy's 600 pages I didn't getting any others on interlibrary loan). I leave you with this lovely quote from it. "The NDEers (Near Death Experience) are right, and when we die we end up surrounded by Precious Moments figurines. In which case, I for one am not going" Amen. Puts me in mind of the time when I lived in Madison and Mom was up, she was reading the personals to find me a man and there was one guy who had in there'Precious Moments figurines make good door stops.' she felt he was perfect for me.

Date: 2004-08-29 10:47 am (UTC)Passage is a monster. So far I like it a lot. My first thought was, tell it's NOT going to be Flatliners but when they laughed at the movie I knew I'd be okay.
