Just stuff
Sep. 3rd, 2004 01:50 pmMore than a little grateful that I'm no longer living in Fl. Of course, I'd have been out of there pretty quickly (prehaps, could be sitting on I-95's parking lot)
I got my first pay check today. I'm glad to see my (well it's going to my bank in FL which could be a real problem) statement. That means that my official transcripts have finally gotten to Nicolet. Now, tell me,how do you live on 470$ a month? (at least I'm getting paid what I'm worth 32.35$/hr but since I'm only teaching one class)
I decided to splurge last night just because well, damn it I haven't bought myself anything fun in a long time. Mom bought me a dvd player since I needed one for this class (thanks mom will pay yuo back once I start earning above the poverty line) and got myself something from ebay and more exciting, the new Indigenous CD (Self-titled) as some of you know, I used to hang on occasion with them when they were but teens playing in the Deadwood bars of SD. They're a family of Lakota bluesmen (and woman). Great stuff. Mato's still hot, hot, hot and he writes all his own stuff (with maybe one or two exceptions) which always impresses me. You can check them out here.
And I got my prize from Warm Champagne for taking that runner up spot with Touch of Grey. It's a cd of Spaith music (in other words, what we all like to do, make up a sound track for our favorite pairing) It's cool. I need to see if they have a play list since I know like 3 songs out of 19
Oh and I'm going hiking in the woods alone so if I don't come back, I started off behind my house and I was heading east...

Date: 2004-09-03 12:17 pm (UTC)It is heavenly here. I'm very much an outdoorsy kind of person (seriously, if you read my story Blood Drops on Rose Petals, it was set here...long before I moved here. I used to live about 4 hours south in Madison)

Date: 2004-09-04 06:10 am (UTC)And sheesh..living below the poverty line. I know how that feels. How you doing with that? Will you need to get another job?

Date: 2004-09-04 07:20 am (UTC)And yes, the band in Machiavelli Moon (where'd you leave off so I can send more) is based on them.
I may need to get another job but a) this is so rural there aren't many b) it's taking me up to 8 hours to prepare lectures c) my boss wants me to help making educational dvds which doesn't really pay BUT it makes me look great on the resume
