had to miss the opening night of the haunted theatre thanks to a doctor's appt (big surprise more exams but i knew that going in) but there was good stuff to counterbalance that
1. two of my very good students in anatomy told me I'm the best science teacher they ever had and only want to take my classes. Flattering but since I'm not a one man show...
2. Another student told me I got him excited about science and loved that I taught like this was their first time hearing it and can't wait to take another course.
3. Sat down in the library to write while my clothes washed next door. Didn't even get it all out when I hear a gasp. A 13-14 something Goth girl in a red hoodie with black skulls is pointing at my FMA messenger bag. I LOVE FMA. I assure her I do too then she spots the manga I'm taking out of the library and flops down in the carrol next to me and proceeds to talk to me for a half hour. I'm the coolest adult ever apparently because I love anime (she had no idea we've had cons all long and they weren't like invented with the new anime boom) and write fanfiction. I get this girl though. I WAS her. The only gothy geeky kid in a small town. She was so thrilled to have someone, if it was someone her mom's age, to talk to about anime and manga. She definitely wants me to be at anime punch in Columbus in April (
evil_little_dog and I have done this con a couple times)
now the bad - that poor cat's body gouged a nice scratch in my side panel runner to remember him by.
i have to go for another ultrasound and more blood tests to rule out pancreatitis and/or gallbladder issues. Whee. Shoot me.

Yay for getting kids excited about science.

Date: 2008-10-20 03:01 am (UTC)As odd as it sounds, I hope the tests actually find something. It would be great, after all this time, to hear a doctor say, "Here's what's wrong, and here's how we fix it" instead of "We acknowledge your symptoms but we don't see anything wrong." That just isn't helpful.
