Hey Guys I could use some help

Firstly BtVS fandom - I didn't watch 90% of S7. How do the Watchers track Potentials (and wild card SLayers by extension) did they ever cover that? I could use it in Hyperion's Son. THanks.

Secondly FMA Fandom - I really really want to finish up my 7stages challenge. It's Roy and Kimbley centric. I have Like a knife, Bitter fog, The right temptation and No Good Reason (all in memories) done. I'm working on the 'draw a line in the sand' prompt (borrowing from the anime a little since it could easily happen, Roy kills a kid. This will probably be the closest Kimbley gets to seducing Roy to the dark side of the force...uh alchemy)

I wanted to use 'the smell of hospitals in the desert' and thought about making it when Riza requests ROy burn her back but they're practically going home at that point. Do we know in the manga when Kimbley gets his red stone and/or kills his men (that is the reason he's imprisoned in the manga too isn't it?) I could always make this Roy getting a minor injury.

But what I really NEED is one final plot. SOmething you'd like to see happening between Roy and Kimbley. Here's the final set of prompts I have to pick from
1. the wage of honesty
2. the sea
3. the ballroom at midnight
4. anachronism
5. tomorrow is something we remember
6. as near as snow
7. sleepwalk

I'm leaning toward sleepwalk or wage of honesty. So your plot bunnies are welcome here (oh note, Kimbley is being pushed along by Envy in this series.)

There was some mention in Season 7 of seers sending them out to track potentials. (There was a coven Willow was in contact with, and Giles talked about the "seers" indicating a girl was in Sunnydale or on her way.) I don't know if this was common practice before, but it seemed to make sense, since I don't know how they'd know someone was going to be a slayer without a seer, since you can't very well test every girl in the world.

They never really explained how the Watchers tracked Potentials. However, at one point Willow does a spell to locate one, so possibly the Watchers had something similar. The spell made an orange glowy ball of light that was supposed to lead you to the Potential. It's not totally accurate, because it picked out Dawn by mistake (the real Potential was behind a closed door Dawn was standing in front of, or something like that.)

We also get told at some point (I think it was in one of the comics) that all Potentials have dreams of past Slayers, and from way back in S2 we know that some families (like Kendra's) seem to have an ongoing association with the Watchers, which seems to imply that Potentialness runs in families, so once the Watchers identify a family which produced a Potential, they could keep tracking them in the hopes they'd have more.

As others noted - there are vague 'signs/dreams/portents' and 'locator spells' for finding new potentials but nothing entirely specific. Which means you should have a range of options you could use for how to track a potential slayer, and not feel like you were deviating too far from Canon.
