"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!" - Someone email me this today. It's a feminized version of a HUnter Thompson quote ("rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke" is what they changed).

I don't care much for the man's writing but I can get behind this idea.

which is basically useless. I didn't realize my friends from NYC, the ones who moved to PA, are in really bad shape. He's doing sales and of course with the economy as it is sales suck. They have a week to get their rent together.

I'm mostly familiar with Hunter S from the columns he used to write for ESPN.

I don't particularly like his writing at all. Some of the thoughts he expresses, though, are interesting.

Agreed. I think he's highly over rated and since druggies, criminals and others are just not my cup of tea, that could be a problem. Trying to picture him writing for ESPN

He wrote for the "Page 2" section along with folks like Ralph Wiley. So he was given a bit of freedom. He covered a wide range but a lot of it was sort of with this warped 50's perspective... boxing, horse racing, baseball, football... but he writes sports as much like a gambler as a sportswriter.
