the big party
Dec. 28th, 2008 12:12 pmwas a success (and apparently very boozy judging by all the empties). It was nice to see my cousins again and the 'kids' are getting better to hang with since hell they're in their 20's now. A few more years and they'll be like the rest of the 'adults'. My ten year old cousin corralled me for several games too.
Speaking of games we played a few as a group. I was banned from one. You had to guess the song title by the alternative word title for example jubilation to the orb (i.e. Joy to the World) I was too good and got banned. We also played a game with prizes in envelopes. My cousin read a christmas story that had been altered with the words left and right and each time you heard that you had to pass the envelope those directions around the story. Lucky Uncle's wife messed up and got the final envelop (should have been mine) and had a scratch off that she won 100$ on. I told her I want half.
Unfortunately there was a bit of a in vino veritas moment for me when I told my cousin I didn't like someone at the party (you know the woman, the one who hates anyone who isn't a heterosexual WASP) and mom heard and was a little pissed. I did explain WHY and she was shocked (she lives near said woman and they're friends but she wasn't tremendously surprised either. She was drunk when she said it right? well yes but that doesn't mean she didn't mean it) Been dreading the fallout but so far mom has either forgotten it or is just biding her time.
But over all it was very nice. Got my last gift (well for now there's a couple outstanding yet), from my cousin a monogramed coffee cup. It's quite pretty. Rogue the monstertruck cat loved all the attention.
the party broke up at 1 AM and then the wind kept me up all night.
