Here's another reason to. I missed the payment date, my fault, not arguing that but I haven't been able to get online to pay because of problems on THEIR end. Finally get on tonight and unlike ALL the other credit cards I have if you're late Sears has a different late payment policy. First off you can't just use your usual online paying pages and your usual bank.

Oh no that would be too fucking easy. No, you have to fill out ALL your info again, WHY you were late, WHERE the money is coming from to repay them (okay most people aren't late because of big problems, at least not until they're late for months, being 6 days late doesn't constitute the third degree), they try to strong arm you into setting up monthly direct payments (Blow me) and finally when I circumven that, i have to reenter ALL my bank info and then agree to have electronic collection notices sent. (I should have just paid all 800$ off right now). They WILL NOT let you pay unless you click that your computer has a printer and all that junk (technically mine doesn't right now)

Then I can't tell if it has gone thru. So I call customer service especially since I can not email them about what I think of this shitty assed service of theirs (It won't allow me since I was past due by THIRTY SIX days. Hello, how do Sears and Penny's get away with tacking a month onto how long you're late. Why is this not fraudelent?)

the first rep is a bitch and says she can't check a payment only tech support can. SHe transfers me to another bitch who is hassling me saying she can NOT help me with my account unless I can tell her the date and AMOUNT of my last purchases. WTF then turns out she's not even tech support. I said okay ma'am tell ME how much YOUR last purchases were for and on what date. Who the fuck knows? I could look it up online but I wasn't about to. Finally she gives me to tech support who says I didn't pay. I said yes I did. Here's the reference number. No, didn't go thru. I argue with this idiot for awhile until finally he says only customer service could help me. I said THAT'S where I started.

I get transfered again but this woman was at least sane and helpful. SHe waived the late fee (hell I wasn't asking that. I just want to know if my payment with thru and to bitch about their completely user unfriendly online payment service). But NO ONE knows if that 400$ went thru. It was slated for tomorrow (wouldn't let me pay today) so i have to call back and if it's not in pending she has my account noted for free over the phone payment.

Moral of the story, if you have a Sears credit card don't be late and if you don't have one DONT GET IT

and to top it off, two of the students I needed to cut from that class didn't show today so I could talk to them. Oh well now i don't even feel sorry

I remember when I filed bankruptcy, Sears was the only creditor that came to the 341 meeting and said they wanted everything back. I told them "everything" at this point was the decrepit vacuum cleaner that you thought was a 1000 years old and my contacts. They backed off.

yep my lawyer said pay them off before you declare (which I could) because they'll be the only ones to show up

I owned one once... key word being past tense. The interest is crazy and I found charges on the card for things I didn't sign up for.

It is now gone. Thank god. . .

Yeah, those department store cards suck like sucking things. I had them once, but gave 'em all up (except Newport News, which I got mostly to restore my credit rating...).

Good luck!

the only reason have sears still is they are the only one NOT to cancel me when i went bankrupt back in 98.

but yeah i've had nothing but trouble with them.

Yeah, I went through a debt consolidation program instead of bankruptcy; it wasn't easy, but at least I got everything paid off (including the three grand the government charged me on "income" counted when most of the interest and a good part of the balance was thrown off the largest card).

J has a sears card, and he agrees that their customer service line is mostly manned by stupid people.

yay for one helpful, sane person?

A mortgage broker once told me that Sears was so bad that when mortgage companies do credit checks on you for a loan, they don't even pay attention to Sears.

Yikes! And yeah, I want also want to know how JCP and Sears can get away with tacking on an additional thirty days. That definitely seems screwy. Good luck with all of that. I hope they show the payment going through today. At least that one lady was nice enough to take off the late fee.

Yeah, they suck. I don't go there anymore. I did have a card a long time ago but canceled. Too much hassle. Idiots.

Sounds like one to cancel the moment you can. What a pain! So much for customer service!

their service is very very ....awful. My ONLY reason to keep them is they have a high balance just in case i should ever need it
