Ensemble – S1 – More than She Bargained For

“What’s wrong with Buffy?” Xander cast a wary eye at the Slayer who was curled up on the couch, cradling a pint of Ben and Jerry’s protectively. “Failed that history exam?”

Willow patted Buffy’s knee. “No, she got through that. It’s just, well, she heard about a vampire jamboree going on down at the docks.”

“Jamboree? Really?” Xander grinned, impervious to the twin glares heading his way.

“She sort of let herself into his apartment to warn him since he wasn’t answering the phone.”

“Caught him coming out of the shower,” Buffy said in sheer horror. “Saw his bare butt.”

Buffy seeing Giles' bare butt?

*hugs her* The poor thing! Well, actually, no. I can't say I'd be upset at seeing Giles' bare butt. Either I get a medical vibe from it or a why are we all prudes vibe?

My cousin calls me an open-minded prude in that I won't do things, but I won't stop others.

I'm overthinking this. I understand Buffy's horror, I just feel she should get over it, you know?

Anyway, this was lovely and feel free to ignore me and my overanalyzing.

I believe it has far less to do with anything prudeish and more the general horror a teenage girl has of the mere thought of seeing a parent/"old" man naked. While someone my age might think Giles is pretty much all that and a bag of chips, and a sight of him coming out of the shower would be a cause for celebration, I can understand how it would be less so for a girl S1 Buffy's age.

It's rather like walking in on your parents, you know, having sex.
