seriously, just cold rain for the fourth straight day. Oh well.

Samhain publishing rejected my novella...then again I expected them to. I wasn't expecting quite the hostile form letter though which made it clear I'm never to darken their door with this particularly story again. Blinks. Okay.I would have thought that clear anyhow but listening to some of the agents on my list, probably not.

I'm actually not very sad about it. [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn had several good suggestions for it that I couldn't take because of the word count. I might fluff this up quite a bit and add that on in....maybe. We'll see what other publishers are looking for first.

Went to the doctor. Sigh. I need an MRI on my neck (knew that), need an endoscopy (knew that), need a study to see if my stomach is emptying right.I told her diabetes aside (diabetes slows this down) that it was possible. That's a real issue for BOTH sides of my family. We have bad guts. I'm pushing the stomach stuff until May. I mean I've had issues since I was 12. I'm not so worried about it.

Between my nexium (which ALSO slows digestion) and walmart I dropped 450$. THe one spring breaky thing in there was I treated myself to the NCIS sound track. So far I like it lots. But hell for that kind of dough I could have gone to Vegas or Florida like I had planned.

Finished The Watchmen . I got the feeling I always get when reading Alan Moore. THe emperor's wearing new clothes. I have never gotten his appeal. I've read Swamp Thing, V for Vendetta (which came the closest to me liking it) The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...and about the only character I really liked was John COnstantine but not until Moore wasn't writing him.

I didn't hate the story. I was just completely indifferent to it. Now I remember why I expunged it from my mind. I had only Ozymandius and Rorshacks' outfits left in there. Saying you didn't like this in the 80's was like spitting on the flag or something. I think what bothered me was it didn't take me long to figure out the big mysteries in this. Laurie's background, who was the evil mastermind. About the only thing I didn't get right off was how the ending was going to be achieved. I think really the big issue for me is I don't particularly like dystopic texts and outside of Nite Owl, I didn't like any of them.

You have another geode.

I didn't like Watchmen either. It bored me. Maybe the movie will be better but I'll prolly wait and see it when the library gets it.

Whee, stone dragon!

I didn't remember that Alan Moore also did League of Extraordinary Gentlemen until you said something about it. Yeah, I don't think I like his style of writing at all.

I found Samhain sort of mean, myself. Ah, well.

I need to get something submitted again.

What, the traditional "This manuscript doesn't fit our needs" isn't sufficient any longer?

Sorry about the publisher's response. :\ Even if you were expecting them to deny the story, a hostile rejection can make anyone feel taken aback.

I hope they are able to sort your neck out. Going through something similar myself, I can agree that it sucks (and all of those copays and uncovered Rx's add up quickly). It was $85 for a box of Lidocaine patches. XD

I'm glad you gave such an in-depth review about the Watchmen series. I definitely will wait to see the movie until after it comes out on dvd (and I can netflix it).

Ouch. Am sorry they rejected it - they could have gone about it in a nicer way though.

I guess the indifference carries over from the novel to the film then. Someone even told me that the novel is worse than the film when it comes to that. Maybe it's because it's a bit harder to work out the mysteries in the film. I really don't know. I can't quite understand the hype about it anymore. I did like some of the individual characters though.

thanks. I guess it's hard to make impersonal form letters not harsh

I haven't seen the movie yet (probably rent it) so I can't say but in all honesty I just didn't much care for it

Ugh, we just finished a stretch of weather like that down here. It was gray for 2 weeks and rained off and on the whole time. Even the dogs were miserable.

And so sorry your book was rejected - Keep plugging away though. It's a fun read, and someone will surely take it.

I'd thought about going to see Watchmen, though I wasn't into it when it first came out. I heard it got bad reviews but I hardly ever agree with the critics. I must love bad movies. >_

bad reviews? Really? mostly i've seen rave ones.

I doubt you'd like it. Very violent, lots of b lood and sex and full frontal male nudity...you know the stuff i USUALLY like
