Media Thoughts and forgetfullness redux

cornerofmadnesstwo things I forgot about the Boston trip. #1 - at the con someone had Scar's tattoo array for real but he was moving too fast to catch up to and photograph.
#2- Bungehole Liquor stores. Yeah you heard me right (these were closer to Salem) Almost got the shirt that said 'got it in the bungehole'
Went with the parentals and loved it. I was really worried about not liking Kirk. I was pretty confident Quintos would make a fine Spock (just realized he grew up like less than 25 miles from me back here in Pittsburgh). Honestly I thought the acting was fantastic. I can see why Abrams gave the warning he did about the hard core crew potentially not liking this because, yeah actually I didn't care for the loss of Vulcan/Amanda and the whole AU timeline thing. But I can live with it. I wish they would have just 'fixed it' since after all Spock DID travel through time as it was but whatever. I'll be at the sequel when it comes out in 2011.
So, yeah, Kirk did an amazing job. Young Kirk, Young Spock was a tad unnecessary. We already know Kirk's a cowboy. I guess they felt the need to show Spock loses his temper in a Yo Mamma battle. I did believe this was Kirk as a young adult. The man needed a leash.
Quintos as Spock, he looked enough like him to be the man's son. Even when he and Nimoy were together I was like they could totally be related. He even made my mom the Spock lover happy. I need a picture of him as Spock for the wall. Yummy
McCoy - One of you all said he was channeling DeForest Kelly and how right you were. He was fantastic. Not to mention absolutely hysterical.
Sulu - I was looking at him and leaned over to mom in the theatre and said I'm pretty sure this guy is Korean (he was) and not Japanese. That said, I loved his fighting skill. He's not as sexy as Takei was back in the day but Sulu and Spock have always been my first loves.
Chekov - Nice to see a real Russian in the role. I liked that they made him more than just a helmsman.
Uhura - I'm not sure I liked the Spock/Uhura subplot (even though I just wrote that pairing) but it didn't make me hate it either. But I did like that she too had been updated and actually had some important skills
Scotty - Wished his role had been bigger but I loved what they did with him too.
Future!Spock - Ah so this is why Shatner had been whining. It's always nice to see Nimoy.
My parents and I howled through it. Mom wants to go back
This was so much from the manga I was overjoyed.
the fact that Winry isn't fessing up to her mistake still makes me snorfle. Yeah it's wrong but whatever.
Loved the emotions in this. Ed and Al fighting. Winry literally knocking the shit out of Al was great
Maria bitch-slapping Ed. That had to feel so good.
Maes...OMG Maes. So sexy, so sweet, so freaking insane. This is why i love the man (hazel eyes this time I see...or at least on Mom's computer which does have funky colors sometimes) I'm not ready to lose him.
Kimbley living in Scar's brain. that is just so much wrong fun.
Did I mention how hot Maes is in this animation? Damn he's hot. Oh this is what the animation should have been in the first place
