Snowflake Challenge Day Two
Jan. 2nd, 2014 09:33 pmIn your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.
This was hard to pick just three.
gsd_rtfn This one is a lot of fun. It's low pressure for one, which I always appreciate. It's purpose is very simple, daily accountability for writing/editing progress (in theory art too but I've never seen anyone do that yet). It doesn't run all the time and when it does it's usually for a week. All you need to do is put up your daily progress and cheerlead for others. You get to see nice snippets etc. I'm a fan of anything that gets me writing.
Speaking of which, there's
origfic_bingo which is also low pressure writing comm. You get a monthly bingo card and you don't even really have to make a bingo. Find 5 prompts and writing original fiction. I know a lot of fan ficcers (self included) want to write original fiction too and this keeps you going.
Lastly try a seasonal one (that still has a few days to run this year),
12_daysofficmas (or if you want one on dreamwidth try
fandom_stocking.I love both because you can write any fandom. With the former you can write anything you'd like though it is R rated or below for the younger fanficcers to play too and the latter you write for someone. Either of them are good fun and let you play in multiple fandoms.
As a second bonus community, try St Jude’s Recycled Card program This is obviously not fandom. It's for St. Jude's and it's a great way to get the old cards out of your house and help children with cancer at the same time.

Date: 2014-01-03 04:29 am (UTC)The St Jude thing is nice. I've been saving up cards all year for it. You can't send American Greetings, Hallmark or Disney. I've been avoiding the other two since they're the most expensive and are made in China (whereas many of the other companies are cheaper and American)

Date: 2014-01-03 05:02 am (UTC)I don't think I've actually bought American Greetings or Hallmark in a very long time, card wise. I usually go for shoebox, or...whatever amuses me.
