MOTHMAN!

I made my yearly pilgrimage to the Mothman festival. It was...disappointing in some ways. Partly because it took 45 minutes to find a place to park and that they didn't put on signs ANYWHERE that the speakers had been moved to the theatre from the riverside ampitheatre. Sigh. I missed Rosemary Guilley's talk as a result.

Also my GI upset returned so it wasn't quite as fun as I was hoping. That said I met the author of the Weird (insert state) books from the Midwest region. I got him to sign a copy. Almost bought one for [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog but they were out of ones for her current state (figured she's appreciate roaming around to weird sites).
the angel from the Athens cemetery was in the book. Apparently she's been known to move and weep. Athens itself is rated one of the most haunted places, especially the college. This I've felt for myself and [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog will probably back me up on that.

Sadly once again the hayride in the evening was sold out but I didn't want to go this year. Well I did but not feeling like this.

I hung around so I could talk with Ms Guilley as per my usual. This time we talked about her haunted Pennsylvania book (got one for me and my brother both signed since my brother is a ghost hunting fanatic too) Can't wait to sit down and read them.

There was a group called 'white things' that I didn't get to talk to but they had something that looked like a hairy hodag on their shirts and the leader looked a hell of a lot like my friend Zog, so much so I thought he'd escaped from Wisconsin for a minute.

I was only there two hours but that's more than enough time for this festival, really. I did however manage to run into Turtle Man, quite literally. He was transporting a 40 pound snapper that I also crashed into (someone stopped dead in front of me and Turtle man ran into me. I got tail whipped thank you Snapper.) Turtle Man is the Kentucky wild and proud version of the Crocodile Hunter apparently.

The good part is on the 60 mile round trip Luc and Arrigo actually added action to the novella in my head and have convinced me I won't have to synthesize the two short stories together after all (hopefully)
