bad health day and a problem

Ouch. My knee dislocated every time I rolled over last night. I got no sleep. Sigh. Had to wear my brace all day. Also got a call this morning to find out why I missed my lab AGAIN. Opps because i forgot to call and reschedule my endocrinologist appt. But it worked out. I see him at a better time on friday and had my blood drawn today.
Grandma is home from the nursing home. The home health nurse reamed her a new one for being a stubborn old bitch. Frankly mom and I give this two weeks tops before she's back to the home. She doesn't want her oxygen because she insists there is nothing wrong with her lungs (there is). That she needs no help (she does) and that her children should take care of her 24/7 (yeah right)
And guess who's back in my life? Foul-weather Freddy. It's icky damp here barely into the 50's and pissing down rain. Roy comes in and WILL NOT go back out. That's all well and good other than he now has fleas and worms. SIgh. Off to the vet for meds tomorrow.
The problem - plotting out my steampunk mystery for nano. Melantha is supposed to be the focus. Her and Placid. He's easy to write. She is proving very hard to come up with things to do. I realize she needs a friend to interact with. So far I know her name is Coffin (no first name yet) and is a journalist but that's it. Sigh. Why do i find women so damn uninteresting to write? The only one who was easy was Maddie from Machiavelli Moon.
I need a working title for nano. Right now I have The Shadow of his Smile and Return to Now on various drafts. I'm not sure I like either. Thoughts?
here's my current facebook status - when I catch students, who promise they are studying SO HARD blowing off class, facebooking/texting in class and otherwise not actually studying but just whining about earning the grade they actually deserve and as opposed to the one they want, I get very annoyed and this is a bad thing
three guesses why i made it.
